Absolutely the BEST
I was a patient of Dr. McAdams for several years at Lahey Hospital. Having MS over 2 decades; had a number of other Neurologists, Dr. McAdams was, by far, the BEST MS doctor treating me. He would always let me begin with my own concerns, questions, and updates. He would answer each and every query to me, succinctly and calmly. For treatment plans, we both would discuss the pros and cons, review printed materials, and revisit my plan of action via TeleHealth, phone call, or another visit. Always returned text or phone call messages within hours and the weekend. One is never rushed in appointments nor ignored while in the examine room. I was deeply saddened when he left Lahey Hospital but wish him the best of luck!

I wholeheartely agree with the featured review
Dr. McAdams is a very good listener. His responses and actions show he cares about what you are going through and what is best for you. His questions show he either has a very good memory or takes excellent notes. In person or Telehealth, you get the same good feeling.

Extremely smart and caring doctor
At first, I wasn’t sure about Dr. McAdams . I think it was just me being intimidated by how smart and straightforward he was. After more and more appointments I’ve realized how thorough he is with my care, how he will actually believe what I tell him and refers me to others specialists to rule anything out. It’s nice to have a doctor that listens and acts! He also remembers me and my life happenings, it’s not something I will take for granted as I’m sure he has lots of other patients!

Amazing neurologist
I am approaching my 17th year with MS. I have had 3 or 4 neurologist before Dr. McAdams. Dr. McAdams is amazing, his knowledge and care for patients with MS is outstanding. He has listened to me, followed up personally with me and it has been nothing short of an amazing experience. I am grateful to have him on my team of healthcare providers.

Dr. McAdams always takes the time to answer all my questions and concerns, and has always called me right away to talk about every and any test results. He’s taken every concern I’ve had with MS symptoms to heart and as an athlete he’s kept me strong and healthy. He does so much research and you can tel he stays up to date with the latest treatments and how everything will effect his patients. The amount of extra time he puts in is so amazing- he’s called me on the weekends to answer questions I’ve had. He takes extra time with all his patients and the care he gives is excellent. I thank my lucky stars every day for such an amazing Neurologist.

I have been a MS neurology patient at Lahey for 16 plus years and had always received excellent care until being referred to Dr. McAdams. I also do not doubt his competence in prescribing and understanding drug treatments but in my experience he has not regard for the patients needs or experience. Rather than an infusion in my home, which is the way Dr. Camac always ordered Solumedrol, it had to be in the hospital even though it's a two hour drive for me. The same with blood work and a MRI. I never received Ocrevus because the same was expected even though there are two infusion centers close to where I live. One was in hospital has he wanted but he would have had to work with a physician there and he was not willing to do this even though my symptoms are severe. Even though he had said this was the "best medication" for me, his rigidity and desire for what was easiest for him, denied me the medication unless I could get myself from Maine to Lahey. I am glad I've found another doctor!

This review is for Dr. Matthew McAdams who is a doctor specializing in Neurology, currently working at Beth Israel Lahey Health in Burlington, MA. I highly recommend Dr. McAdams. He helped my brother in law who has severe MS with determining whether he was a good candidate for Ocrevus infusion. I attended these consultations, and Dr. McAdams did not talk down to us, explained everything clearly, and he was very very thorough in making sure that my brother in law was appropriate for this treatment. Dr. M is a thoughtful and cautious person, just like you want in a doctor. Highly highly recommend.

I do not doubt the knowledge of Dr. McAdams, but his judgment? is rather off. I came to him because of severe worries about my mental health, which he disregarded as self-induced. He is my only healthcare professional to reach this conclusion, and both my psychiatrist and psychologist believe it urgent that I receive proper treatment. While he did recommend me a plan, he has failed to follow up with the referals for me?????. I waited two months for that appointment, now I have to start again.
