Horrible outcome, horrible surgeon
Had thumb arthroplasty, wound opened up, had complication with loss of sensation, and full loss of function, apparently the button with band that was placed failed. The follow up was horrific, no acknowledgment of the fact that I cannot use that hand, my dominant hand, additionally several complications over the digit tendons because the thumb actually is in the wrong position, chronic pain. Followed up with a colleague of his for a second opinion on options who was even more so demeaning, stating “the X-ray looks the same as after surgery, I don’t know how to fix it”. After over a year of PT with no change, finally went to sharp, and I’m having the surgery redone as the button that they placed completely failed, the base of the thumb metacarpal has slipped onto the wrist bone. What a disappointment in surgical skill and what disgusting and demeaning treatment of patients from him and his colleague.

Ok doctor, bad overall care from facility
Doctor was over an hour late for my appointment which happens. Received a wrist brace from this office and clearly asked 2 times what it would cost me. Both times was told no cost to me what so ever. A few weeks later I get a bill from Breg for $315.00 for a wrist brace that can be bought at any local store for $10-$20. Doctor office is claiming that they told me I could be responsible for a cost even though that is a lie. I unfortunately go to the doctors frequently for other issues so I am no stranger to surprise bills, which is why I clearly asked 2 different times about cost. The office told me I am out of luck and I have to pay it but I can return the brace to them if I would like, but I still have to pay regardless. This is ridiculous to say the least. I would not return to see this doctor or facility at UCSD.

Choose a different orthopedic surgeon
Lacks empathy. Doesn’t acknowledge pain needs for people with broken bones. Has discussed my treatment minimally, as if it is a game. Rude, arrogant person who should have become a pathologist so contact with live people would be rare.

I have some let’s say complicated right hand/arm shoulder issues. He has operated on me, it was successful. DRM has given me injections that were successful. I don’t see this doc for his bedside manner if that’s your main focus then ya just aren’t in that much pain people( other reviews) if you want a very good surgeon this is my choice.. 4 stars instead of 5? Bc nobody,no staff, no thing is perfect.???

Went to see Dr. Meunier to remove cyst on my hand. Scheduled surgery at UCSD Lajolla facility. Overall cost of surgery plus two visits (one before and one after) over $10,000. Yes, not kidding. Hospital charges were outrageous for literally 3 to 4 hours of stay. Recovery after surgery was terrible but it gets worst. In about two weeks the cyst is back and it’s worse than before. Consulted two different doctors and both agreed that this was a failed surgery. Went to see him the third time to find out what happened. He had no explanation other than sorry. I don’t know what are my options for failed procedures at UCSD. I am still paying their bills and now looking for some other doctor to take care of the issue and pain I have been suffering. One more note, I asked for referral and the new doctor at scripps wants medical records and notes about the issue. It turns out he wrote almost nothing in my file of use.

Terrible! I saw Dr. Meunier for a fractured wrist. First he did not wash his hands nor did he acknowledge my husband who was sitting next to me. He knew nothing about my history and seemed bored. He came off as arrogant and smug. A real let down.

I've undergone two surgeries with Dr. Meunier and I was very pleased with both. He made sure to answer all of my questions and has excellent bedside manner. My injury was pretty intense, including a fully severed median nerve and 6 severed tendons and thanks to his work, most function is restored and sensation is returning. The fact that I can even type this with two hands, is because he was able to repair my hand.

Dr. Meunior has a poor plan of treatment and execution of surgury. In 2011 I have visited him for a simple mallet finger fracture. Long story short, his surgury had no effect at all. He puts on the saddest puppy face and says we have to redo the surgury after wasting months and thousands of dollars. Suffering from deprsession for 5 years ive decided to take another shot at SNUH's (in korea) Kim Ji Hyung, who has successfully pulled my extensor tendon, the 'scar' menunier inflicted.
