Cardiothoracic Surgery Dream Team
I was introduced to Dr. Powers at the Little company of Mary in Torrance. I was advised that I needed heart valve surgery and Dr. Powers explain the procedures to me to me in detail . After the surgery Dr. Powers came by to my room daily to make sure that I was doing well. I would also like to recognize Mr. Francisco and Ms. Angie. Mr. Francisco also came daily to make sure that I was doing well and also he removed the tubes in my chest and explained to me what was going on and answered all my questions I had. Ms. Angie stop by after the surgery to give me a set of instructions to do when I arrive home. Ms. Angie called me several times to make sure that my blood pressure and I was doing OK. When I call Ms. Angie with a question or concern she would come back with answers promptly. In my opinion Dr. Powers, Mr. Francisco and Ms. Angie are the best of the best Dream Team in cardiothoracic surgery.

Excellent experience
Excellent experience, wonderful bedside manner, a patient, caring and an understanding surgeon. The results were super. This was a Mitral Valve Repair with an Annuloplasty Ring along with left Atrial Apendage clipping with an AtriClip.

Amazing Surgeon
We just have to say how thankful we are that DrPowers was our surgeon. He fixed my wife’s mitral valve and I now have my partner back to life. He gave us so much of his time. We are so grateful.

When your loved one is in the ER and open heart surgery is recommended, your choices in a cardiac surgeon may seem limited. I was unable to be at my loved one's side during this decision, and Dr Matthew Powers did the surgery. The outcome was poor. A mistake was made. Dr Powers skill level under pressure is questionable. Research your options before choosing him! My loved one died from complications and this "review" is my only recourse to warn others.

My cardiologist said I needed heart surgery and sent me to Dr. Mathew Powers. Dr. Powers explained very clearly the complexities of mitral valve repair surgery. He answered all my questions thoughtfully and with respect. I researched everything I could on the internet and was surprised and relieved how up to date he was with his information and techniques. My repair surgery was 100% successful and will add many years to my life. I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon. Thank you Dr. Powers!
