Dr. Matthew Scriven, MD

Dr. Matthew Scriven is a professional and charming surgeon. He worked with my plastic surgeon, Dr. Mark Venturi, to repair my umbilical hernia. Dr. Scriven and Dr. Venturi are an incredible team and vital assets to their institution. I am thrilled with the results. Dr. Scriven and Dr. Venturi did a perfect job! Thank you!

In Sept of 2019 I was having serious pain in my abdomen. A colonoscopy revealed a tumor that had my colon almost completely blocked. Dr. Scriven removed the cancer so well that I did not require any additional treatment. It's three years later; I just had my yearly colonoscopy and still nothing bad. I am grateful Dr. Scriven was available to help me.

I visited him post hospitalization due to double pneumonia. They discovered in the hospital that I had a hernia in two locations. The doctor was great at explaining the surgery and what to expect. I have no complaints as the doctor was direct and diagnosed the problem with surgery to repair. No complaints at all.

I came to Dr. Scriven with an umbilical hernia. He was able to find it and schedule me for surgery soon after. The office was nice, clean, and professional. The surgery went very well and I was in and out the same day, no complications. Definitely recommend Dr. Scriven if you need laproscopic surgery!

Dr Screvin provided excellent care, explained everything about my surgery clearly, and his office staff were friendly & efficient. The office & surgical center demonstrated excellent covid safe procedures.

Provider did not listen to my concerns around having a minor procedure done. When I told him I didn’t feel comfortable and wanted to wait he pressured me to have it done that day with no explanation as to what he was doing or why it needed to be done. Left appointment in more pain than I arrived and did not feel happy with my choice to have him perform the procedure. After speaking with several other medical professionals about the experience they all agreed that I could have waited and there was no need for me to rush into the procedure when I was not ready. After my experience, I would never recommend Dr Matthew Scriven to anyone.

I suffered for years from recurrent inguinal hernias and faced the prospect of a third surgical repair. Dr. Scriven was recommended to me and was in my network of preferred providers. He performed surgery using robotics and successfully repaired my hernias on an outpatient basis at Inova Fair Oaks. From start to finish, Dr. Scriven answered all my questions and made sure my recovery was on track. He's one of the best doctors I have ever had.

I recently had an abscess and fistula which eventually required surgery. I met with Dr. Scriven multiple times where he carefully walked me through the procedure, what to expect immediately afterwards, and the longer term results. I was extremely impressed with Dr. Scriven's professionalism, courtesy, and willingness to listen to my concerns. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone needing his services. He is a top-notch surgeon.

From the time, my hernia was identified by ultrasound, it took less than one week to schedule my surgery. Dr. Scriven took the time to discuss the pros and cons of surgery as well as a description of the procedure and expectations before and after the procedure. He was kind, competent and thorough in his discussion with us and we felt like we were making the right decision and that we had found the right person for us. He would not let us leave until ALL of our questions were answered.

Dr. Scriven provided excellent care to my husband during his gallbladder and hernia surgeries. His manner is very professional and he explained the procedures very well. I highly recommend Dr. Scriven

Dr. Scriven was my surgeon at Fair Oaks Hospital for an emergency appendectomy for a ruptured appendix. Throughout the process and post-surgery, I felt I was in good hands, as he explained everything thoroughly and was always available for follow-up questions and concerns.

5 Stars!!!!! Dr. Scriven was great through the entire process. He knew exactly what to do, answered my questions/concerns and was quick to respond to any requests or questions when interfacing with the nursing staff, in between appointments. Hopefully, I don't need surgery in the future, but if I did, I would go back to Dr. Scriven every single time. I highly recommend him and the VSA Team for surgery. They are the best NoVA has to offer!

Dr. Scriven is truly a wonderful surgeon and provider. He explained my surgical procedure and next steps in not only simple terms but also in a very clear and professional manner. I am very pleased with how I have been recovering status post surgery and feel secure knowing I can reach out to this office anytime when needed.
