It was a miracle....
I got in to see Dr Zornitzer 3 hours after my fall. The office staff saw that I was in pain and quickly did the paperwork to get me in to see the Dr. Xrays determined that I broke my distal radius and ulna - both displaced - I needed surgery! Dr Z explained all this and what I remember most was his confidence and his genuine desire to help me! I wasnt nervous -I felt I was in exactly the right place. Surgery was a success - 2 plates and 8 screws later! The surgical team at Short Hills Surgical Center were truly incredible - making me feel comfortable throughout! I just came from my post op appt - stiches are out, Xrays show everything looks good - PT begins.Dr Z responded to my phone calls immediately as I was in pain. He got me out of pain so I could rest and heal! He has the best interest of his patient's at heart.

Inadequate care
His exam was cursory, his treatment was incomplete, he gave me no follow-up instructions nor the referral to OT that I ultimately needed. He talked over me throughout the visit. I finally saw another doctor who treated my issue appropriately and resolved it. Dr. Zornitzer's poor care caused me weeks of unnecessary, worsening pain.

Viking Finger Addressed
I was diagnosed with Duputryen's Contracture by my PCP and referred to Dr. Matthew Zornitzer as "the best." Dr. Zornitzer was exceptionally timely, listened attentively, analyzed thoroughly, defined terms, offered options and coordinated well with all of his team members. He was confident and compassionate and offered reassuring feedback. The rest of the staff was professional and engaging. I highly recommend him.

Excellent upper extremity orthopedic surgeon
I suffered from an entrapped ulnar nerve of the left forearm. Dr. Zornitzer took a careful history, performed a focused exam, and then referred me to a neurologist to test the ulnar nerve with an EMG. After reviewing the report, Dr. Zornitzer he took me to outpatient surgery and freed up the nerve. Everything went very well. My left hand is showing continuing recovery.

Dr.Z was excellent with my daughter
Dr. Z was amazing with my daughter who needed surgery to set her broken finger. He went above and beyond to make accommodations for us! He was excellent at explaining medical terminology in plain language. He delivered care in a personal manner which exceeded all expectations. The staff and service were amazing. Thank you for making a sudden injury into a pleasant experience. We highly recommend Dr. Zornitzer. We greatly appreciated your care and concern.

Two Thumbs Up
Two Thumbs Up I was diagnosed with CMC Arthritis in both thumbs in 2018. The first two orthopedic hand surgeons who examined me weren't concerned about the impact thumb surgery could have on my right (dominant) hand and arm, which is affected by Lymphedema. After nearly two years of living with severe joint pain, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Matthew Zornitzer. During my initial consultation, we discussed options that were available to alleviate my chronic pain and what a surgical procedure would entail. Dr. Zornitzer listened to, understood and addressed my concerns, thereby enabling me to make an informed decision about my treatment. I underwent successful CMC surgery on my left and right thumbs in 2021 and 2022, respectively. The chronic joint pain associated with the disease is gone and the long-range prognosis is good. Two thumbs up to Dr. Zornitzer and his wonderful staff for their role in my treatment and care.

Bad doctor
Dr. Zornitzer does not listen to the patient, barely spends more than 3 minutes with you, terrible attitude, shrugs his shoulder when you want answers. Went to him for a fractured wrist and it still does not work well and I still feel pain. Several months after treatment he finally took me seriously but still did not listen and performed surgery on a tendon that was not the problem. Meanwhile the tendon I complained about for months still hurts. Avoid this doctor!

I broke my finger badly in a freak accident. Dr. Zornitzer successfully repaired the bone with pins and gave me back full use of my right ring finger. That sounds simple - but I may have lost all mobility with a lesser surgeon. I will be forever grateful for his talent and expertise.

My teenage son saw Dr. Zornitzer after suffering a distal radial (wrist) fracture that was displaced. Dr. Zornitzer performed a thorough examination of my son and decided that the best course of action would be to perform a surgical procedure to insert pins to help the healing process. He made this decision thoughtfully based upon my son's age, examining an x-ray of my son's growth plates and after considering what Dr. Zornitzer thought would be the best possible course of healing. The surgery went smoothly and after about six weeks in a cast, my son's wrist is feeling great. I believe that the decision to perform the surgery was a good one and will decrease the likelihood of any future wrist issues. Dr. Zornitzer was attentive at all follow up appointments. He was always on time with all appointments and his staff was always courteous and professional. Highly recommend Dr. Zornitzer!

In December, I fractured 4 bones in my hand during a bad fall and Dr. Zornitzer urgently booked me for surgery and the results have been fantastic. I am now nearing the end of my hand therapy sessions and have a full functioning hand. Even my hand therapist was amazed by how well my hand healed after surgery, especially my range of motion and strength. I am 95% back to normal life and cannot thank Dr. Zornitzer enough for his remarkable talent and help in fixing the 4 fractured bones in my hand. I have full trust in Dr. Zornitzer and recommend him to you without any doubt in my mind! Thanks again, Doc! :)

I found Dr. Zornitzer in an emergency situation and I am very happy I did. I needed surgery on my right pinky and he was able to do it a few days after meeting. The office staff is lovely and the wait time very short. When I didn't heal as fast as I thought I should he was not an alarmist and said to give it time. He also recommended a great place to go for hand therapy. When I developed a trigger finger he took care of that too.

Dr. Zornitzer quickly diagnosed my carpal tunnel and I scheduled surgery with him. The surgery went very well and, as with the other hand he did the same surgery on, was back to normal quickly with minimal pain. His patient manner, including that of his staff members, is very good and he listens and responds clearly and adequately to your questions and concerns.

Dr. Zornitzer performed arthroplasty on my right ring finger. I was extremely pleased with the results. I have to say that Dr. Z ornitzer and his staff are wonderful. The average wait time is about ten to fifteen minutes in his office. The entire staff is always pleasant, helpful and very considerate answering all questions and concerns. He takes all the time you need with you and makes himself available if you have any problems. I would strongly recommend Dr. Zornitzer.

As luck would have it, I broke my right index finger and damaged my left thumb in two separate instances during the past few years. However, I was really fortunate to have Dr. Z successfully perform both surgeries well enough to be back on the basketball court. His professional demeanor, consultative approach, empathy and willingness to do what was in my best interest was highly commendable. Most importantly, his surgical expertise and skill were outstanding and I am grateful that he is my hand surgeon. Highly recommended.

Although my three previous procedures with other doctors were partly successful, my finger continued to bend. Dr Zornitzer suggested an enzyme shot to avoid surgery. Two days after the shot, he straightened the finger which is not straight. I am very pleased and hightly recommend him.
