Dr. Garrido was so humble yet so confident that he could help my husband through his bypass surgery using bloodless surgery and he did an amazing job. My husband looked awesome the morning after surgery that you would never had known he had triple bypass. The recovery time was unbelievable. He was operated on a Fri and released from the hospital Tues as he did so well with recovery. We are convinced bloodless surgery is the best option for anyone to recover quickly and without any complications from a surgery. We had been at 2 previous hospitals and they wouldn't do the surgery bloodlessly for us, but Jefferson Health was more than happy to take our case and the surgeon was outstanding as well as his staff. Thank you Dr. Garrido for extending my husband's life a little longer for us.

From the minute I met Dr. Garrido until the time i had my surgery and discharge all I can say everyone was terrific. Nurses, doctors, other staff are all aces in my book.

While triple bypass is the most invasive thing in my life. I found Dr. Garrido and his staff to be top notch and would recommend him to anyone that asked.

Met with Dr. Garrido to review status of my aortic condition. He explained everything in terms that I could understand and made recommendations. 11 years ago I had an emergency aortic dissection and was rushed to Abington Hospital in severely critical condition. Dr. Garrido found the problem, operated, and, repaired the damage. He literally saved my life. I trust this man completely.

Heart surgary is a super scary thing. From the first time I metDr G to my second surgary I couldNot have asked for a better doc to take care of me. He always explained what was going on and made me feelLike I was in very good hands. I would recommend him to anyone who needed care. A true legend in the field and would not want anyone else taking care of my surgery.

Dr. Garrido was extremely professional while being very personable and supportive. Kept me apprised of my husband’s pre-surgical diagnosis and status. Was the same after the procedure. Was able to do least invasive procedure for my husband’s condition ( a valve repair rather than replacement). He has years of experience and it was greatly evidenced in the outcome and follow up visits. His team is great. Many thanks to him and all involved in my husband’s care

ZERO stars. I would NEVER recommend Dr.Garrido. He performed a single bypass on my husband. Closed him up. Sent him to recovery. Called to tell me he was in recovery.Called me 10 minutes later to say my husband had to go back into surgery. ThankG-D our cardiologist was there and saw something was wrong.Blood wasn't flowing up and down at the site of the bypass. He didn't see this?? He then passed my husband off to another surgeon I didn't know. He proceeded to go to another case. Just left my husband. My husband was in ICU for a week. We NEVER heard from him.NEVER. He didn't visit my husband not once.He didn't come to explain what happened.NOTHING. Is this normal procedure?? I have never been this disillusioned or disappointed in a doctor like this. I find him to be negligent and not caring at all. I'm not one to post negative comments. This one needed to be shared.

It's been a little over a year since Dr. Garrido and his team saved my life. The dedication and commitment to never give up is why I am still here and my family and I are eternally grateful. We couldn't recommend Dr. Garrido and this hospital more for the care, love, and support that we felt ever day. The odds of my survival were extremely low and we were out of options. If Dr. Garrido and his team hadn't driven to anther hospital, where ECMO wasn't available, I wouldn't have survived. We still can't find the words to adequetly express how thankful we are to Jefferson Abington hospital and everyone involved in my care.

I had 3 office visits with Dr. Garrido including consultation, prep for surgery and post-op visit. Dr. Garrido was highly recommended by my cardiologist. I chose him over a surgeon who does the most valve repairs in the country (at another university hospital). Dr. Garrido did my challenging mitral valve repair, and saved me from needing a valve replacement. He is not just an expert in valve surgery, he is also caring, sympathetic, and sensitive to your personal and family needs. I had congenital mitral valve disease, then got endocarditis from a staph infection that further destroyed the valve. He was able to salvage the valve because he truly takes his time to do the best work, and my recovery in the hospital was easy and fast. I got out a day early, and was able to attend my daughter's kindergarten graduation 2 weeks later. The care from the cardiac ICU staff was excellent. His office staff is responsive, the CRNPs who help care for you in and out of hospital are excellent.

I recently had open heart surgery to replace my mitral valve. I knew someone that had a lot of residual pain as a result of this procedure, so was concerned. In my case there was no pain, if anything a little discomfort. I spent 7 days in the hospital because my heart took a little longer to recover and there was talk of a pacemaker which I finally didn't need. Since I also suffered from A Fib he also did a procedure to correct that. My recovery has gone better than anticipated at age 85. I'm much improved since the operation a little more than 2 months ago. Very impressed with this doctor.

Dr. Mauricio Garrido, and the entire staff are beyond amazing.I can't thank them enough for the excellent care I received during my cardiac emergency.Dr. Garrido, was very professional and attentive to my condition. He was patient, caring and explained everything to me in a very clear manner.I am still here today and am truly grateful to him for his care. My husband and I met with Dr. Garrido to discuss an aortic valve replacement for my husband. Dr. Grarrido explained throughly while also discussing the risks association with the procedure. We credit Dr. Garrido and his team for saving my husband's life. He spent a week in the ICU with exceptional care by the nurses and daily visits by Dr. Garrido or a member of his team. It made us feel so comfortable and we were confident that my husband would make a full recovery. It has been six weeks since the procedure. My husband's big concern was that with Spring upon us he might not be able to do what he nornally does in our garden. As I write this, he is outside pruning bushes. He is not 100% but is on the road to being able to do everything he always has. We cannot begin to express the gratitude we feel that we had such a capable surgeon. Dr. Garrido is also a compassionate human being with a wonderful bedside manner. Thank you Dr. Garrido from the bottom of our hearts.

Dr. Garrido was fantastic. He spent as much time with me as I needed in order to explain the procedure, what I should expect after surgery, and what my recovery would be like. In addition, his entire staff was amazing. Whether checking on me in the hospital, or during appointments in the office, they were entirely professional and knowledgeable. The support staff was also excellent from reception to making appointments, refilling prescriptions, etc. This was my first major surgery ever. Dr. Garrido and his staff took the fear out of the entire procedure.

I didn’t know what I was up against but what I can tell you I had the best surgeon and the best team I couldn’t have done it without them. Everyone treated you with respect. They also treated you like if you was their family I have never been in a hospital and treated the way I was treated I will recommend anyone to that hospital and Dr. Garrido and his team I have no doubt that he is a man of God with praying hands I thank him and his team for everything that they’ve done for me. I’m on my way to recovery and doing well it’s only been four weeks. Thanks to him and his team.

What a wonderful cardiac care staff. After Dr. Watson told my wife and I that triple bypass was required, he indicated that Dr. Garrido would be performing the surgery. I was very fortunate. What an extraordinary surgeon. After the initial decision, Dr. Garrido met with my wife and me. He explained in extensive detail what to expect during surgery, recovery, and post op. He also took the time to call our daughter in Portland, Oregon to explain the process to her as well. He went above and beyond. Dr. Garrido has a wonderful bedside manner. He, as well as his staff, truly care about the patient’s comfort and wellbeing. I’m very grateful to Dr. Garrido and his staff for all they have done for me. I was given a second chance.

Having Dr. Garrido as a doctor & surgeon was Life Changing....literally! If it wasn't for his phenomenal judgement & extraordinary medical expertise , my husband wouldn't be alive.
