Dr. Meghana Gowda, MD

I saw Dr Gowda for a yearly checkup, was looking for new OB; after talking with her about another issue i have been facing i decided she was not the Dr for me. we didn't have that dr patient connection. she made a statement to me that i just couldn't understand at that time it just didn't make sense to me why some dr comes up with simple and easy solution, instead of professional solution and concern, like test blood work just to really find out what the real issue is. any way she did not make me feel like my problem was important just suggested a simple solution suitable and simple for her .

At first I appreciated how rushed everyone seemed to get me checked in. However, the secretary in the lobby was screening and entering allergies. No one actually asked for a medical history at any point. The nurses asked me to get undressed with a paper tablecloth over my lap - before the doctor introduced herself. She did not inspire confidence. Would not recommend.

I saw Dr. Gowda for over a month with severe urethra pain. I was given antibiotics, had many tests performed and essentially dismissed as a patient after she grew tired of dealing with me. Not once did she mention that I could have pelvic muscle spasms and she just referred me out to a gynecologist. Her speciality is urogynocology and she completely missed my problem. I found a new urogynocologist and she immediately diagnosed the problem and began the appropriate treatment. The last visit I had with Dr. Gowda it was apparent she was finished with me and had little or no concern about my pain.

Dismissive and rude. Rushes the appointment. Please find another provider. She needs serious training in patient interaction and relationship.

She is one of the worst doctors I have ever encountered. She is not open to dialogue. No bedside manner. Surgery heavy focus with a god complex. I cannot believe the good reviews. I have never been dismissed in such a way. Steer clear. Go out of town if you have to!

I have seen Dr. Gowda once a year for a follow-up to my surgery for a prolapsed bladder. She is my favorite doctor of all time. Her kindness, professionalism, accurate diagnosis and advice have made my life better. She is serious about my health but always with a great smile and personality. Four years out from my surgery, I could to see someone else for my check-ups but I choose her.

Dr. Gowda is more like a friend you can talk to you about your issue. She makes you feel at ease! I have recommended her to several of my friends.

I have been working with Dr. Gowda to resolve a bladder issue that was a side effect of radiation treatment. From the beginning of working with Dr. Gowda she has explained what she believes we need to do as a team to treat the symptoms I am having, but has been very straight forward about what the treatment will and will not be able to accomplish; it will not change the condition my bladder is now in. I appreciated that she was able to tell me these things and set my expectations to a realistic level. She has a great beside manner and allows me the time I need, during visits, to ask questions. I have already recommended her practice to friends and family.

Dr. Gowda of Virginia Urology is absolutely outstanding. She is thorough, takes time to explain, and puts her patients at ease. I had a CT scan, a cystoscopy and a D&C, and everything went smoothly and professionally, from first visit to last. I highly recommend her.

I love Dr Gowda. She is listened to my concerns, gave me several options for treatment, and helped me choose the best option for my overall health. I was referred by my cousin who was equally very pleased. She has treated me for several years!

She may know her science but she has absolutely no bedside manner and she rushes every appointment I have had. She shames her patients and is condescending. She referred me to PT.... I have called for PT 5 times in 2 days....no response. VU sucks.

Dr Gowda is terrific. VU is not. It's the only practice that doesn't allow you to contact the doctor/nurse via e-mail or phone. VU's website is not user-friendly unless you're giving them money. My latest experience is common. Last visit Dr Gowda said, "your pre-op Rx will be called in a week ahead of procedure,; if it hasn't, please call my nurse Heather.". So you call and the receptionist serves as firewall, which wouldn't be too bad if she was competent. Bottom line no Rx, no procedure.
