Lost his compassion for patients.
What stood out about the visit? the lack of compassion, the lack of guidance, the lack of a plan to help the patient. Nar a goodbye but just walked out of the exam room with no regard to the patient's pain and suffering and the need of his professional help.

Inept and Disturbing
My son (the patient) and I listened as Dr. Merrick Wetzler told a young girl (somewhere around the age of 6 or 7) that he would tickle her until she urinated in her pants if she didn't do something. He had been tickling her before making that threat. Dr. Wetzler then stated that he couldn't tickle the child's mother or he would go to jail. Dr. Wetzler stated that my son wasn't using his crutches correctly, but did not provide adequate instruction on how to use the crutches. Dr. Wetzler poked at the area of my son's fracture and claimed my son had no fracture because he didn't react in pain. I explained that my son is stoic and has high pain tolerance (as do many children in the autistic community, of which my son is a member). Dr. Wetzler did not detect the fracture in my son's foot, instead the radiologist for the urgent care that my son was initially assessed at detected it.

I would definitely recommend Dr. Wetzler. He’s straight and too the point. His surgical team is amazing along with his office staff. I’m glad my physical therapist recommended me to him.

I saw Dr. Wetzler twice for a knee injury and found him to be completely unprofessional both times. He never introduced himself to me nor asked me my name. He barely listened when I described my injury and symptoms, and seemed dismissive of them because I'm "middle aged and not an athlete." He was condescending when I practiced a breathing technique to work through the discomfort of the cortisone he injected into my knee. Twice during my second appointment he left the exam room without explanation, telling me when he returned that he'd taken calls and gotten a snack. I was not taken seriously or treated with respect, and as a result, my care suffered. I ultimately got a second opinion elsewhere, and three months after my injury, I will be having major surgery to repair my knee. I can't help but wonder if Dr. Wetzler had taken me more seriously, perhaps my injury might not have progressed to the point where I need such a serious surgery. I would not recommend him to anyone.

I had a poor experience with Dr. Merrick Wetzler. I had a long term pain in my right shoulder. He had me do some range of motion movements but he did not examine me or feel the area I was having trouble with. He had X-rays done and told me it was not arthritis; it was a “trigger point”. He then dismissed me and told me to come back in a week if the condition had not improved. I had been in pain for 6 months and have to pay for each visit due to my high deductible medical insurance. He didn’t prescribe any exercises or stretches. I later found exercises myself on YouTube armed with the word “trigger point”. It would have been helpful if he had provided me with these exercises. In addition, I had trouble trying to pay for my visit. I ended up going through Advocare member services; his office did not respond to them on three attempts over almost 6 months with the bill in frozen status. I finally just paid the bill to close the book on this waste of my health, time, and money.

He diagnosed me with gluteal bursitis. He first injected cortisone injection on the right buttock, and the pain was reduced ; then a couple of weeks later, he injected cortisone injection on the left buttock. This time, as I stood up, I could put the foot down on that side . It took me 10 second or longer to control that foot. I googled and that episode appeared to be sciatic nerve damage.a MRI of the pelvic showed bilateral sciatic lesion as per hospital specialist report. I have been in excruciating pain irradiating from low back to buttock to hip to leg to foot with tingling down the leg to my toes. I have not been able to walk without horrible pain. Dr. Watzler, who ordered the pelvic MRI has not made one single call to me for a follow up with the MRI results. I have not been able to function. He prescribe hydrocodone, a narcotic which has not alleviated the pain. When I got releve from the first cortisone injection, I gave him a good feedback but as preliminary feedback. I

Did not enjoy my two experiences with him at all. I’ve had chronic back pain for nearly three years and finally my doctor said to try an ortho so I did. My first visit I try to explain what’s going on and immediately he says let’s do an X-ray and then two min later oh let me give you a trigger point injection. I tell him about my MRI and he says it’s nothing you just need to fix your posture. I come back in two weeks to let him know I still have pain he offers nothing except for “make sure your posture is straight” and also to keep my work computer screens at eye level. He then says come back in one month which I won’t bc it’s a waste of money.
