Very skillful surgeon
Dr. Acker did a double bypass on my heart back in 2016. The surgery was difficult since I had so much calcification of the coronary arteries that there was almost no place to do a graft. But he found one. The results have been fabulous. This month I have done ten bike rides of forty miles or longer, and at 71 can still hold my own with young racers. I have also done several controlled stress tests--and did extremely well. I can't praise Dr. Acker highly enough!

Mere words cannot express the high level of skill, bedside manner and care of Dr. Michael A. Acker I was fortunate to receive at PENN Hospital. The same goes for his entire support staff. From the moment I was at admitted at PENN Hospital it was evident to me that I was receiving care from an elite group of elite medical professionals. Dr. Acker was simply amazing. He was thorough and patient with the explanation of my medical condition and best course of action. And in a manner which made me feel calm and secure. I never felt like just a "patient" or "case". Dr. Acker's, and his PA Alex's, care and communication were personal to my situation and that in itself made a huge impact on the very successful outcome. The Triple Bypass Coronary Surgery performed by Dr. Acker is a HUGE success. Both his skill and artistry in the procedure are evident to me as just 9 months following that surgery I feel decades younger and much healthier. Dr. Acker's work has been a "Game-Changer"

This review is somewhat dated. Dr Acker repaired my mitral valve on May 13, 2013. His medical skill and expertise are allowing me, today, to thank him publicly for pulling me from the brink of cardiac despair, over eight years ago, and into the light of a happy, ever appreciative man of 65 today. Public accolades are not why this brilliant surgeon strives to perform at such an exemplary level. He truly loves and cherishes each patient. With heartfelt gratitude, I thank you Doctor. Francis J. If I could leave minus stars, I would! He operated on my mother. When she was transferred to Penn, he told her that she would be home in two weeks. NOT SO! She was there for TWO MONTHS and then passed away. He did his surgery, then pretty much let his nurse Carol take charge and run the show. Penn is an absolute hell hole and I would NEVER recommend this surgeon or this hospital. My father wanted to pursue a law suit, but in the end, we didn't because it just prolonged the pain. Stay away!

I wanred to personally thank Dr. Acker for the awesome, lifesaving / changing mitral valve repair surgery he performed for me in early Jume ( 2017 ). I knew from the moment I met him that Iwas in the best hands possible ! Even though I am still recovering, I feel ten (10x) better and 20 years younger. Thank you once again Dr. Acker and may God bless you and allow you to continue to save/change lives for years to come!
