I have been a patient of Dr. Michael Akpeke for almost 20 years, and I can confidently say he is the best doctor I have ever had. Dr. Akpeke is not only compassionate, but he truly takes the time to listen to his patients. He cares deeply about what you’re going through and works hard to create a personalized plan to help you feel better. His attention to detail and genuine concern for his patients’ well-being is unmatched. On top of that, his staff is equally remarkable. They consistently go out of their way to assist in any way they can, making every visit a positive experience. I recommend Dr. Akpeke and his team 100% If you’re looking for a doctor who truly cares, look no further than Dr. Akpeke and his wonderful staff! God Bless, Leslie Adams

Great Dr.-Don't let the negative reviews cheat you
Dr. Apeke is a great Dr. I was hesitant on seeing him because of his reviews but took a chance based off the recommendation from my Orthopedic Dr. and i'm glad I did. He is very knowledgeable and very caring. He takes his time with his patients, doesn't rush thru the visit and is very thorough. He is a straight shooter so you might not like his delivery method but your body and health will thank him. Don't let the negative reviews cheat you out of seeing a good Dr. that will do everything in his power to help you.

When he came into the room he didn’t even acknowledge me and went straight to the computer. After about 5 minutes he turned to me to give me a finger and took a phone call from his friend, on speaker! He asked him why he left the party so early and asked him for the pictures of his girlfriend. When he was done on the computer and with the personal call on speaker he turned to me and blurted out…”vomiting, diarrhea, fever, itchy eyes, runny nose, sore throat, swollen glands…etc..” I said, “what?” He said, “do you have any?” I said, “no”… then he said, “sit up there” (pointing to the medical table) he did some sort of stethoscope random touching then said, “lay down” did some more random touching. Then he followed by sticking an ear light so far in my ear drum I had to shout “ouch”…it still hurts. He said, “you can sit back over there”, pointing to the chair. Then he blurts out, “you’re doing an AIDS test”...the worst experience in a professional setting I have ever encountered.

Akpeke was my assigned Hospitalist after thoracic surgery. He obviously makes things very difficult for anyone he interacts with if they don't have exactly what he wants exactly when he wants it. When it came to my pain management in recovery, he said one dose and prescribed half that dose. It took me THREE DAYS to get anything from him and the only explanation was "that's how he always does it", then he "supplemented" what he actually gave me by prescribing something I am allergic to!!! Wouldn't even take two minutes to verify my allergies before throwing something at me to shut me up. The poor sap that actually got me answers from him was told he'd be getting a talking to by Akpeke later that day, FOR BOTHERING HIM ABOUT A PATIENT IN HIS CARE. I'm so beyond disgusted with him.

Terrible Care, Terrible Relationship with Staff – Jun 03, 2021
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Akpeke?
Dr. Akpeke was recommended to me by a top cardiologist advising that he provided extremely detailed notes which indicated he was very thorough. I have been going to him for three years now since my doctor retired. He is very familiar with all illnesses - diabetes, thyroid, Cardiolgy, etc. yet refers to specialists when appropriate. He shows great care and concern for the human he is caring for. I appreciate his superlative quality of care, and I highly recommend him. I also appreciate his staff and their internal processes.

Dr. Akpeke saved my life. He truly cares about his patients and knows every detail of my body. He takes time with me and delivers the hard to hear things but does it with professionalism and respect. I am alive because this Doctor cared for me and told me exactly what I was going to go through. I listened and I’m alive today. My cancer diagnosis was in 2010 because he too the time to read and interpret my lab results and didn’t toss them aside for the next day. He makes rounds at the hospital and what other Prinary does that.

Dr. Akpeke is a very good provider. He shows interest in all of my Healthcare needs. He's very thorough and looks at all medications prescribed from other doctors. If he doesn't know he will find out or he refers you to other great doctors in the network. I, myself am very strong about my health and if you're no good I will leave the provider. His staff is good except the front receptionist Jessica, who is very rude and unpleasant. But, Dr. Akpeke is a very good thorough doctor who is good in his profession, funny and has a great sense of humor.

I was in inpatient for upper and lower GI at AdventHealth Orlando. Not knowing this doctor at all, he proceeds to walk into my room and answer a personal phone call on his cell phone telling someone when he would be home. Then proceeds to tell me he suspects that I have Carcinoid Syndrome. Doesn't tell me what it is, tells me he's unsure if he has enough time to test me for it. Exiting the room he looks over his shoulder and says, "c-a-r-c-i-n-o-i-d, look it up." I did. Alone in the hospital room with no window, no visitors at 8 p.m. I'm left preparing for the procedure which I'm nervous enough about, now this? This is the most unprofessional thing I've ever experienced in a hospital. Especially one with a reputation that this one is supposed to have? What a joke! This doctor is awful and will leave you with no explanation as to why he is diagnosing something that he hasn't ever seen me for. I didn't know him and he sure as hell didn't know me. How dare a doctor scare a patient.

Dr. Akpeke is Funny, tough, and straight forward, I LOVE IT!. He gets right to the issues and has a fun time doing it. He is the Doc. of the year!. The only problem I have with him is his horrible staff at the front desk at his office off on Gore Street downtown Orlando. The staff right up front that answer the phones and receive payments, they are very rude, unsophisticated, and lack customer service skills. They will make you want to go somewhere else and visit another doctor.

My husband met Dr. Akpeke after being admitted to Orlando Health after open heart surgery, a pulmonary embolism, and several other issues at another hospital. From the first time we met him, he showed total interest in him. He was caring and attentive. He finally put together a group of top notch specialists to work as a team to find out what was causing his problems. He communicated with us and the team daily. Unfortunately, God had other plans, but I would recommend him highly to anyone.

I have been seeing other internists for the past 40 years, and as far as myself and my husband go- we feel that he is very competent and compassionate. If you need a referral, you are going to get one. He listens to you and makes appropriate decisions related to your condition. His new office is spacious and spotless. The staff is very nice. The nurse practitioner who works with him is also very competent, caring, and professional. I'm so grateful that we go there.

I met Dr. Akpeke while in the hospital recovering from major surgery. I promptly switched from my previous doctor to Dr. Akpeke as soon as I was released and have been happy about it ever since. My only regret is that I didn't know him years ago! I have recommended him to everyone I know. He is an incredible doctor and a truly kind, caring person.

I ve been seeing Dr Akpeke for 3 years. I think he and his staff are superior to others Internist in the greater Orlando area. He answers my questions and makes excellent decisions regarding my health care. When necessary he will refer me to a Specialist that have been excellent in their field of medicine. Dr. Akpeke actually makes hospital rounds daily to keep track of a patient's care while in a facility. I highly recommend Dr. Michael Akpede!

I wish I could rate him 0 stars. He has pour bedside manner. He kept telling me that he was going to "fix" me by "helping" me manage my weight. For weight management he said "you will eat nothing but salads for the next 3 months and only water. Starting today." He also said he was going to make me "pretty" so I can "get a boyfriend." I understand doctor's have to mention your weight and encourage you to fix it. Michael did the complete opposite and made me feel awful about myself.
