Knowledgeable re Type 1, less on Medtronic 670
He is VERY knowledgeable about Type 1 diabetes and always explained treatment decisions clearly. He was frank about not being as up to date about the glucose meter I use (Medtronic 670g). When my insurance changed from Medicaid to Medicare, I decided to change to a provider more familiar with Medtronic's meters.

Horrible office staff - no one answers the phone or returns phone calls. The doctor requires an in person visit instead of telehealth for initial visits, even for off island visitors, but then runs so behind that it’s impossible to catch your return flight on time. Dr. Bornemann was unable to really help me but I appreciated that he took his time to answer questions. Just really wish the office was run differently.

Dr told me the T3 medication I was on from previous Dr he does not believe in and he would not renew or even see if my levels were normal. I Tried to call and reschedule an appointment, no one ever called me back, but they charged me for a “no show”. Worst of all, when I called to check on lab results, they said I was fine. However, 6 months later when I went to see a new doctor they told me my results were abnormal and I had to be seen right away. 6 months later!

I found him to be very friendly and he takes the time to listen as well as explain things. When you leave you feel you came up with a treatment plan together. I would highly recommend him.

Left because I felt like I needed a more "up to date" doctor. The office is very old and the nurses can be very difficult to get a hold of. I had a lot of problems with my prescriptions while I went here. I felt more stressed than anything.
