Dr. Michael Capan, MD

Be careful, Dr. Capan is dangerous. I gave him a decision by an administrative law judge confirming my disability. He set the document aside, instead prescribing new potent medications without a proper diagnostic evaluation. When I complained of side effects, he refused me further service, returning the document.

After years of trying different meds, I was finally prescribed ones that actually work for me and I went to see him to continue to receive those exact medications, NOT to make unnecessary changes. This man was clearly so full of himself, within 10 minutes I could tell I was not going to be happy with the outcome of the appointment. He completely changed my diagnosis, took me off a medication that keeps me from being manic, started me on a new med which resulted in major dissociation for two days straight and insomnia due to mania. At the end of the session, he laughed and said I’m welcome to go get a second opinion elsewhere. I can’t stress enough how much I recommend not trusting this man with your mental health. I am not the type of person to leave people bad reviews. I believe people should form their own opinions. I’m this case, I felt a warning was due.

Terrible. Prescribed me things I didn't need, ignored my concerns about side effects, diagnosed me with a disorder I didn't have, and refused to listen to me when I told him it didn't fit me at all. Put me on lithium, which I didn't need (I am not bipolar & don't have mania, I have depression) and which affected my professional life as it caused brain fog and memory loss on top of hand tremors. I only saw him at all because he was the only option at the low-cost clinic. Awful experience, would not recommend to anyone.

Probably the worst psychiatrist I've ever had. Not only did he manage to ignore everything that I discussed with him, but he also refused to assign another doctor to my case, after a professional conflict of interest became evident. If this isn't enough, the air of arrogance that he exudes also makes it ridiculously difficult to trust or confide in him.
