Thyroid Help
Dr. Carella is very knowledgeable and good for tips and ideas for other issues you may have. He had also given names of other Doctors and Medicines to ask my primary physician about for other issues I had brought up. I liked him for my thyroid issue, and he explained everything. He had told me last time I saw him that he may be retiring and I just received a letter in the mail that said he is no longer participating with my health service, so I am assuming he has retired. I would like to thank him for his service and wish him well in his retirement.

Told me I was "too young" to not want children (at 27 or 28 years old) and got mad when I started birth control without his permission. Put his head on my back when listening to my heart with his stethoscope which was super weird and inappropriate. Felt my legs for swelling twice in the same appointment-was the first time not good enough? Ordered a billion tests, which affected none of his decisions, and said to come back in 9 months. Spoke to me with the door open because he was clearly done before I had a chance to ask questions. A useless and gross provider.

Dr. Carella has the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced with a physician. Appointments are incredibly rushed - he does not leave time to answer your questions, and if he does, the "answers" are empty and unhelpful. After leaving messages, calling the office, and multiple appointments, I did not feel like I was any closer to help despite the fact that my symptoms were impacting my functioning. I was simply told to take an OTC vitamin and find other specialists. I would especially not recommend if you are a woman - on multiple occasions Dr. Carella emphasized the need to control my thyroid condition "so my future husband could have kids". I would ESPECIALLY not recommend if you are LGBTQ+.

Dr. Carella is the rudest, most rushed, and most unhelpful healthcare provider I have had the displeasure of seeing. He regularly talked over me, refused to listen to any of my symptoms or concerns, and answered most questions with "I don't know," or "talk to your general physician." Please do not waste your energy with him; you deserve better care than this.

Very rude, rushed appointment, then left and didn't come back. At his age he should just retire, clearly he doesn't like his job.

I have been a patient for 20 yrs. and have always depended on his care & recommendations. He can be very quick in speaking with you, and does tend to rush a bit; I think that is just his personality. I will be very disappointed when he decides to retire.

Have called three times over the past week to get an Rx refill. No answers, just recording so I left voice mail. Got no calls back. Am now totally out of thyroid meds. Calling again as I type this, opted for main extension. I've been on hold now for over 25 minutes. It's like no one is there - ever.

Don’t waste your time to see this provider , he didn’t want to listen, he asked a question, before you answered he talks over you. The listed reviews are no lie exactly that’s how the way he treated me as well . He seems he is ready to retire tired of his job or something. The first Doc I am very disappointed with. He loves to order blood work with in a month apart who does that, my condition is not even chronic..

I've seen Dr. Carella three times over a 1 year period. It took me over a month to get in for my most recent appointment. I had been feeling very poorly and kept a log of my symptoms as well as a list of detailed questions. When he came in he asked rapid-fire questions for 2-3 minutes then walked out and said he'd be back but didn't return. I asked the nurse to have him return so I could ask my questions. She treated it like an odd request and inconvenience. I couldn't believe the treatment!

He was very interested in my condition the very first visit. He asked a lot of questions and sent me to have several bloods test done. I was so excited I thought I have found the doctor who was going to help me with autoimmune disease. However, when I went for my second visit he barely talk to me. He didnt explain much about the test results. He asked the same questions from the previous visit and told me to com back in 6 month.. I wont be coming back anytime soon.

I was told that I could try synthetic replacement thyroid, but if I didn't like that I could go back to Armour. He changed his mind when I said that the synthetic didn't work as well. He will not prescribe Armour for me now. I will be changing doctors.

He was not really present and listening when I tried to answer his questions. He asked me to keep a detailed log for 45 days and then said he really didn't need it when I tried to show him, even though my condition had not improved.
