When you are diagnosed with AML you would want the best care possible. You would also appreciate someone who can be informative and someone you can trust. This is not the doctor for any of that! He handed my husband a booklet and said all you need to know about AML is in there. He also because of his not necessary attitude had me end up in the ICU and I died several times. I call him dr. Death because everyone I have met in the BMT unit in his and his partner's care all have DIED.

Rude & unprofessional
Pharmacy finally had an alternate pain medication in stock after days without due to the opioid crisis. Called Dr. Carroll as the on call physician and stood there overhearing as he called my pharmacist a specific male anatomy part. Dr Carroll was angry and clearly inconvenienced bc he would have had to go back to the office to fulfill the alternate prescription. He refused, so I spent all of Christmas with unmedicated bone cancer. When questioned why, he denied the interaction with my pharmacist and then pretended to have misunderstood the initial request. Still did not provide alternate prescription.

My husband had been receiving treatment from Dr. Carroll for 6 years now. We've been so grateful for his care. He is brilliant. We realize that not everyone gels with him. We had to adapt to his requirements. But when you step back and realize the level of care he holds together, it's really quite amazing and worth it. He surrounds himself with a whole team of quality nurses.

Not responsive or empathetic
Quite unsatisfactory I have been out of my chemo medicine for 3 weeks. The pharmacy will not refill the prescription as this doctor coded the order erroneously. I have to wait another week for the doctor to see me and rectify. In the meanwhile, no one has done a blood count and I’m fearful my numbers are dangerously low. This is could be life threatening and is unacceptable.

It seemed he had diagnosed before talking to me and he did not have all the current medical records including recent information on the last hospitalization for the same issue I was seeing him about. Had no interest in what I was saying. He had no interest in hearing about the recent scans CT and ultrasound or getting them to review. Told me to stop medication that was still needed.

Although Dr. Carroll is a highly skilled oncologist, his bedside manner leaves something to be desired, especially if you are a woman. If you're a woman of color, good luck! He is dismissive and sarcastic in answering questions. He makes it known he is a man 'of faith', but truly doesn't behave as one.

Dr. Carroll was more like family because he took really good care of our father Juan during the last ten years of his life. He was always very patient and offered us all the options available to prolong the life of my father. We will always be grateful for the great service he provided and the compassion he showed to our family until the very end. Thank you, Maria, Jesse, Ralph, Johnny

Dr. Carroll is an excellent physician. He is not warm and fuzzy, so if you are looking for that, you best look elsewhere. But, if you want a doctor who is intelligent and experienced, then Dr. Carroll is a good choice. His ability to diagnose and provide the appropriate treatment as well as explain the patient's condition in terms one can understand is also top-notch. And, once you get to know him, it is apparent that he he very much cares for each patient's welfare.

My father is a patient of Dr. Carroll. My brothers and I do not live locally. We had a meeting with Dr. Carroll and were very impressed with his "bedside" manor. he took time to meet with us as a group to answer any and all questions. He answered the questions to our satisfaction giving them thoughtful responses. I feel my father is in good hands.
