Attempting to have kids in my 40s, I had a consultation with Dr. Chinn in 2022. I followed his advice and got pregnant naturally a few months later. He is personable and I feel at ease when I talk to him. He has answered any questions I’ve had thoroughly and really helps me understand things in layman’s terms. His assistant is also super nice. I always feel like they remember me. Dr. Chinn would even bring up small details about life that I’ve mentioned in the past. So this shows me he really listens and gets to know his patient. I have been going to Dr. Chinn from the pre planning stages and continued with him from pregnancy, through birth and after birth follow-ups. I trust Dr. Chinn completely and I would recommend him to anyone. Dr. Chinn is a great doctor.

We felt hurried, and he didn't go into detail about what he was telling us about what to do and not to do. We left feeling like we didn't get anywhere, and felt more ashamed that we didn't know what we didn't know.

Other reviews are veryyy misleading
After reading some reviews online, I'll admit I was skeptical going into my appointment. But I actually liked him MORE than my normal OB/GYN. Due to a scheduling conflict, I had a routine check up scheduled with Dr.Chinn instead of my normal OB.He was very patient & kind, didn't make me feel like I was just another patient he had to see. He talked to me about what I should expect for the last two months of my pregnancy. Dr.Chinn also was very helpful at explaining anything that I needed better clarification on. I was beyond satisfied with my visit today.

He did my Cesarian and at my one week post partum appointment there was a small infected area which he told me to keep an eye on. When I came in to my 6 week post partum I saw a midwife that was really concerned about my scar because it had looked infected and had some pus and blood coming out. She got Dr.Chinn to come in to take a look at it and when he did he said it looked more red at that time but that it was fine and not infected. When he left to the room the midwife looked at me and told me that she thought it was still infected and recommended for me to come in and see a different provider. Which I did and the other provider I sawed definitely agreed that it was infected and a recommended putting some Neosporin on it as an antibiotic to make it heal better which it has. I would not recommend him at all and what she didn't do my cesarean.

He focuses on my diabetes alot behind the causes for my issues, which I get can influence it, but it's not the end all be all. Also he seems to ignore some heightened level of concerns.

I am unable to recommend Dr. Chinn to anyone. During his intake questioning he decided to focus on my ethnicity. It started out with the "How do your pronounce your name", "Are you Hawaiian?". However, this day, the questioning, commentary, body language, and tone took a turn for the worse. Offensive comments: Dr. Chinn: "You don't look Hawaiian" (What do Hawaiians look like?) Dr. Chinn: "You must be from here because you don't sound like you are from Hawaii" (What do Hawaiians sound like?) Dr. Chinn: "Your dad is full blood Hawaiian?" "There aren't many of them left" "How is it that your dad got here?" "Did he come over on a whale or something?" At this point I was in full on tears and had to walk out of the appointment. I understand curiosity, but he took it to a whole other level. What if he were to have the same line of question for a black person? Would his comment be "did he come over on a slave ship"? This is no different than his comment about my father.
