Great hip doctor and very personable!
I was having a right hip injection. Dr Clarke is a talented surgeon who has a sense of humor. It went very well. He has already replaced my left hip years ago. Friendly and concerned about my health.

underanteverted both cup in pelvis stem in femer
Not only did this guy under-antevert (the angle the cup is placed in the pelvis) the cup in my pelvis by a bit over 20 degrees causing me the inability to sit on a toilet bc it caused a mechanical hip impingement where my femur hit my pelvis and thankfully i did not dislocate before I could get it revised elsewhere and he misdiagnosed my mechanical impingement (impingement means joint does not bend), he diagnosed and treated it as a soft tissue impingement. The malposition was measurable and obvious to ~ 6 other surgeons... but he did not tell me nor measure the implant overhang on my CT scan, I later learned my entire leg externally rotates. Means my foot does not face forward thereby incessantly pulling on all these different hip tendons. 3.5 years later I am still unable to sit without excruciating pain, almost impossible to be in a car at all at times. Go at your own risk. Plus 3 other MDs said I didn't need the the replacement cz 2 mm viable cartilage left as told by my new MDs.

Dr Clarke performed a complete hip replacement after I fractured my hip. I could not be happier with his work. He was very professional, answered all my questions and was very pleasant. I would be pleased to recommend him to anyone.

Big mistake
I had a total right hip replacement over 2 years ago and am in constant pain ever since ! Dr said X-ray looks textbook but I cannot even sleep on my right side and have been told by another surgeon that I may have not even needed new hip (had small labral tear that is apparently very common in patients my age -60’s). At last and final visit I was told that a revision was the next step and I started to cry! Am using painkillers to get through the day but am unable to get good sleep at night. Will be seeing another local surgeon to see if I have any other options- fingers crossed. So angry and wish I had asked for second opinion before making this terrible mistake. Hope this helps someone!

He did an unwarranted hip replacement & ruined me
Abysmal and worse. I learned ~2 years after he replaced my hip and installed both the implant cup crooked by about 20 degrees, and my stem in the femur also crooked off by about 6 degrees, and after revision surgery I still can not sit on my hip... wait... drumroll... read this carefully: I never needed a joint replacement. The differential diagnosis for pain in the groin is hip flexor tendonitis and I did not have severe arthritis, not even close as I still had lots of cartilage left and I NEVER NEEDED THE JOINT REPLACEMENT. Stay away!!! Make any hip surgeon show you the xrays and also learn via internet or a reputable surgeon exactly what bone on bone xrays look like bc he may try to get his hands on you too. STAY AWAY.

Dr. Clarkeis revision was successful. He answered all questions and With good physical therapy my mobility is better than it has been in years.

Great doctor!
Dr. Clarke did my hip resurface 10 years ago and I have been pain free ever since. I am able to do everything from hiking to yoga without any difficulties. I am currently in recovery from a total knee replacement that he performed a few months ago. He is very friendly and takes time with you to answer all of your questions. I totally trust him.
