Whoa
My wife and I saw him annually, until about 3 years ago. On that visit, he found I had dry eye syndrome and that I had because of it permanently lost half the meibomian glands (tear ducts) in my eyelids. On that same visit, he discovered that my wife had more severe dry eye syndrome than I, but without permanent damage.

Impatient!
I have been coming to see Dr. Farbowitz for many years. Lately, I have been feeling rushed and he does not have the time or patience to answer questions. I understand that he is moving onto surgeries( applause, applause), and giving his patients to the optometrist. However, his lack of interest sticks out like a sore thumb. I gave him 2 stars because once upon a time, he spent time with his clients and showed genuine interest. At least I thought.

It has taken awhile for me to find the courage to write this review. Dr Farbowitz services are overpriced. He told my husband he had dry eye, it would be thousands. He saw a different doctor and was told he does not have dry eye. He wanted me to buy eye drops from him, very expensive, I bought them at CVS for a fraction of the cost. I had to sign 3 times I would not sue him, twice in his office and again at the surgical center. He removed a cataract and left for vacation afterwards. When I returned the next day, no doctor to remove my eyepatch. My eyesight was worse. I had to wait 5 days for him to return. He saw me and said to continue the drops for 2 weeks. Waited 2 weeks, he examined me again and said my retina was swollen, continue the drops. I returned after 3 weeks, he examined my eye and said to read the chart. I couldn’t. He then said “there is no medical reason for you not to be able to read the chart” loud and accusatory. From that moment I knew I would never go back to him.

Zero Stars. Zero bedside manner. Staff inconsiderate. He is cocky, rude and a Sub par eye doctor. He never answers "Important" calls. GO ELSEWHERE Read the reviews, there is a reason why so many people gave him 1 star.

Very Disappointed! I was a patient of the practice for more than 30 years under a previous doctor, and my issue is with billing with the current practice. I have always paid my bills. After one visit with Dr. Farbowitz I moved my address, and never received an invoice. I ended up paying very significant fees and all they could do was throw up their hands and say there's nothing to be done. It's a good thing I moved because I would never go back after that treatment. My issue isn't medical, but I am still a customer/patient who also deserves fairness.

Dr. Farbowitz was on call for my regular Opthamologist on a Saturday when I had a sudden submacular hemorrhage in my left eye and could barely see out of it. He asked me a few questions and asked me how long it would take to get to his office. He examined me and had me see a retinologist first thing Monday morning. I was able to quickly see a terrific Dr. at NYEE in NYC. I had a vitrectomy that week and I can now see 20/40 with some distortion. Because of his effort he is now my Opthamologist

I really wanted him to be my MD; but, he had unpleasant MD-to-patient interaction. Ophthalmic Med Techs did abt 45 mins of Health Hx, preliminary tests and, eye dilation, then MD entered room to exam my eye. I don't recall he spoke w/me except "look up, look down, look to the side, etc" and give name of contacts he'd order 4 me. He didn't tell me if did or didn't see damage of HTN or DM in my eyes. Didn't prepare me 4 (my 1st) retinal scan, so my eyes were very sore 4-5 days-Clearly preoccupied
