I was transferred from my town to Presby for seizures stemming from a cavernoma in my brain. After reviewing some test results, Dr. Lang said that the cavernoma could be removed and that should help my symptoms, but that surgery was not emergent but should happen 'within weeks.' With that in mind, I was discharged from Presby but returned two weeks later for an MRI Dr. Lang needed for surgical planning. Keep in mind that Presby is a two-hour drive from my home. After the MRI, I was shocked and saddened when Dr. Lang said that surgery was not needed, given that the medications I was taking were 'managing' the condition. He seemed to have forgotten the concerns I shared with him about staying on medicines for the long term, and he offered no more of an explanation when pressed. He asked that I return to Presby for additional testing, but I declined. I have zero interest in spending more time and money for no benefit. I have secured a second opinion with a surgeon that I trust.

I had been diagnosed with a cavernous hemangioma. After spending some time in the hospital, Dr. Lang assured me that the cavernoma needed to be removed and that he would take good care of me throughout the process. I was released from the hospital the following day and had to return to Pittsburgh about two weeks later for a follow-up MRI at Dr. Lang's request. Keep in mind that Pittsburgh is about two hours from my home, but I did it thinking surgery was pending. The following week, I was shocked when Dr. Lang said that he didn't feel the need to do surgery, given that the medications I was on were managing my symptoms. I had expressed to him earlier that I wanted off the medications, but that fell on deaf ears apparently. He then wanted me to come back to Pittsburgh for additional tests (with no guarantee that surgery was pending), so rather than experience a Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown at the moment of kick-off moment, I declined the testing and removed myself from his care. It's a shame because I thought his caring was was intense and genuine, and now I'm left with more medications, continued symptoms, and a second opinion appointment with a different neurosurgeon in two months.

CLINICAL MANNERS
My husband had a stroke and had been left side paralyzed. We had gone into Presby hospital for an angiogram of the brain to see what was going on. When Dr Lang had stopped in the recovery room to let us know how the test turned out. One of the first things he spoke to us stated that my husband was going to die within a year!!! He went onto to show us on a MRI that my husband has an aneurism very close to the brainstem. Went on to state that there were 4 surgeries that he would be able to do. Two of the surgeries usually result in death, and the other 2 usually result in a worse stroke! Well, why don't you just knife us both in the back. We were totally devastated hearing that news. Right away I scheduled a neurologist appointment at Cleveland Clinic. This neurologist was great, he explained what his plan was for my hubby, and now 2 years later, he fishes and hunts, nothing stops him and we have HOPE

I recently underwent surgery performed by Dr. Lang, and I cannot express enough my gratitude for the exceptional care and expertise I received. He was professional, compassionate, and very skillful. He and his staff took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure, addressed all my concerns, and ensured I felt comfortable every step of the way. I am forever grateful for what he did for me. I highly recommend Dr. Lang.
