I have been going to Dr. Mairs for over 20 years. My Mother also was attended by Dr. Mairs for many years before I became a patient. He is very down to earth as well as being thorough and professional.

I was able to get swift emergency care
Dr. Mairs office gave me an immediate appointment when I was experiencing severe eye pain even though I was not a previous patient. All the staff was professional, Dr. Mairs explained why I was having these symptoms and prescribed a course of treatment that has worked. I found all staff friendly and caring.

Does not answer questions written by the assistant
Office staff sat and gossiped and was so very loud about everyone by name you could hear them throughout the building. So unprofessional. Dr. Mairs, did not even review the sheet with the questions I had that the assistant wrote down. Didn't look at me when he spoke.

Long wait time to see him (45 minutes). FULL waiting rooms. Answered all my questions fully. Seems tired and bored. Time for retirement? Has excellent reputation with all I've talked to. Absolutely nothing negative. I felt comfortable speaking with him and asking (probably dumb) questions, and getting understandable answers.

He may be approaching the end of his usefulness. He is becoming increasingly belligerent and has stopped listening, with sarcasm and snarkiness his primary modes of communication. His staff seems overly protective of him. As has been noted before, he seems remarkably reluctant to write prescriptions. I go to an optometrist for glasses. I'm rethinking the relationship.

I had cataract surgery in both eyes. I had a great time in the hospital with Dr. Mairs and his staff. Really awesome time. I had done quit a bit of research on the surgery and I was very comfortable with the procedure. His office staff is funny and very upbeat.
