Dr. Michael McGuire, MD

I had an unfortunate experience with Dr. Michael McGuire that left me feeling unheard and dismissed. During my visits, I found him to be dismissive of my concerns, which made it difficult for me to feel confident about the care I was receiving. His comments on my test results were unclear and inconsistent, leaving me feeling potentially misled about my health. This unfortunately seems to match feedback in other reviews, which also highlight a poor attitude and lack of empathy from Dr. McGuire. Additionally, his lack of attentiveness and poor follow-up care added to the frustration of my experience. As a patient, I believe that a healthcare provider should prioritize clear communication, empathy, and thorough follow-up, especially when dealing with sensitive health issues. Unfortunately, these elements were missing in my interactions with Dr. McGuire. I hope this feedback serves to improve the quality of care for others.

This wasn't just a 'visit'. Had several visits, then surgery and post op care. While Dr. McGuire was always friendly he seemed to be somewhat dismissive of things that I brought up as his patient. After months of frustration and unresolved issues post surgery, I ended up seeking other care with another Urologist who has a provided me with better support and understanding of my 'uro' issues in addition to having another remedial surgery on those same

Under no circumstances would I recommend that anyone see Dr. McGuire for medical advice. For months after a hernia operation, I repeatedly told him that my pain persisted, he perfunctorily dismissed my observations. After waiting 10 months without any improvement, I saw another urologist who identified the condition as Pelvic Floor Dysfunction—a condition readily described on Google. The new doctor prescribed 8 sessions of non-surgical pelvic floor physical therapy, and the condition was cured. Dr. McGuire is a menace.

Seeing Dr. McGuire was a waste of time and I regret seeing him. He was in a rush to complete the visit and provided very little guidance for treatment. When I asked a question, he appeared to be bothered by the question and was extremely condescending with his short answer. PLEASE listen to the other negative reviews on this guy. I wish I did.

I recently underwent a surgical TURP procedure performed by by Dr. McGuire. My experience was much better than I anticipated. Dr. McGuire's skill level is second to none and his knowledge and professionalism are as good as any medical care I have ever received. I experienced a few complications after the procedure but they were addressed quickly and effectively by Dr. McGuire and his team. I highly recommend him if you are able to get on his schedule.

I recently had a urologic problem. I went to Lake Forest Hospital for care. He was assigned to me as my urologist. His attitude and bed side manner were abominable. Dr. McGuire talked to me with arrogance and disdain. His god like attitude left me appalled. My hospital stay was miserable due to his terrible care.

I recently went to the ER and was found to have kidney stones. I was seen by Dr. McGuire after being admitted. The stones were removed after discussion. I feel great now. Many thanks to the to the entire team and the fantastic Urologist, Dr. McGuire.

Has to be the most unprofessional, rude, disrespectful “doctor” I have ever came acrostics in my 37 years. He tried to scold me like I was an ignorant child. There was NO WAY this doctor was performing any surgeries or procedures on me. He raised his voice and over exaggerated the post op treatment for Percutaneous nephrolithotomy. He tried to pressure me into it without telling me the details of my issue. I don’t know how this man has ANY patients.

Dr McGuire fixed my slow urinating problem , using the “Green light procedure “. As a bonus, he cleaned up the area, which improved my ejaculations during sex with my beloved wife. Nice to have a Expert as your Doctor.

I have had numerous experiences with Dr. McGuire over the last 20 years or so & he has treated me exceptionally, each & every time. That is why I have stayed with him all this time. A true professional who cares.

After a CT Urogram showed a mass in my bladder, my internist strongly recommended that I see Dr. McGuire. I was very nervous about having a cystoscopic exam, having had a terrible experience many years in the past. Dr. McGuire quickly put me at ease and explained what he was doing at every step. I even watched on the monitor and saw the tumor in my bladder. It was a completely pain free exam. He operated on me about a week later and successfully removed all tumor tissue. I'm very thankful to him and his wonderful staff for their patience and assistance in getting me through this anxious period in my life. I would definitely recommend Dr. McGuire to anyone experiencing bladder cancer.

I was seen by Sr. McGuire today for assessment of an enlarged prostate, and he spent a total of 3 minutes with me. He looked at my medication history and recommended a kidney and bladder ultrasound. he did not ask about my medical history, issues with urination, pain. He was literally in and out, with a fake smile and big ego. I will get a consult with the Northshore Medical group as I expect more from my medical providers. I expect my providers to spend at least 15-20 minutes to assess my chief complaint. I won't be seeing this guy again. Go elsewhere!

I was referred to Dr. McGuire and had a very disappointing experience. His staff was wonderful, but he flew in and out like a flash, didn't seem to know (nor ask about my history), performed a (very painful) procedure before I even knew what was happening. He barely explained what just happened and left while I was still in shock from pain and cleanup from an unexpected procedure, before I even had a chance to ask any questions.

very arrogant and uncommunicative. i have never been treated with such disrespect by a doctor. he did not explain procedure and used put downs when patient asked legitimate questions. wonder-what is his problem?

Not very impressed unfortunately. I've seen him twice for prostate/urination issues and he was unable to help me. He definitely doesn't seem to take his time, and is certainly not thinking out of the box. I'm switching to a different doc and wouldn't recommend him.

This guy has a very high opinion of himself and a very low opinion of you as a patient. Would not recommend.

Facility was clean and welcoming. Was greeted immediately and checked in within minutes. Dr. McGuire was friendly, attentive, informative, and answered all my questions. Will absolutely recommend Dr. McGuire in the future.

One of the worst experiences with a Physician. First visit. No questions asked, does not asked for MRI ( I brought it in ). Spent 3 minutes, did not listen. Doctor brought into the room as he said PA – young female. She did not do anything at all. No notes, no help ( and there were no need for any ) no single word said. Just stood there and observed urological examination. Embarrassing, not comfortable experience. Will never go to him again.
