Dr. Michael McMullen, MD

McMullen refused to do an adequate exam or prescribe for lenses because I asked to see the documents that I was asked to sign. In addition, I said that I would pay for eye drops on the way out when I found out what was done. I waited a long time and when I saw him, he refused to do the exam or prescribe lenses. After no real exam, no prescription and rude, nasty attitude, he had the nerve to charge my insurance companies. In addition, I received a bill for the eye drops which he refused to administer. This was the worst experience I have ever had with any doctor and I am a senior.

He doesn’t wait until you’re numb to perform an eye procedure! He is not caring for the patients at all and just wants to get your procedure over with. I decided not to get my other eye done after the first one. Worst experience of my life.

My 80 year old mother was seen for cataract removal. Dr. McMullen told her several times not to speak when she was expressing her concerns. She continued to experience pain and discomfort days after the procedure. Dr. McMullen was very defensive, appearing to take the feedback as a personal affront, picking up the phone to curtly cancel future follow up appointments. When she tried to reach out for after care instructions she was told to refer to the instruction sheet, which had been left blank. Dr. McMullen told her more than a few times he had done 1000’s of these procedures, failing to realize each patient and experience is not the same. Extremely unprofessional and disappointing.

I find Dr McMullen to be very thorough and knowledgeable. He did my second cataract surgery today. Couldn’t ask for better care and took time to explain everything to me and was willing to answer my questions. He performed my first surgery a month ago and my eyesight is perfect in that eye. He has treated my husband and me for several years. He performed my husbands cataract surgery also.

My doctor visit lasted about 5 minutes. He is impatient and wants to get you in and out as fast as possible. I wish he took more time with his patients and explained more. I sat in the waiting room for about 20 minutes and saw patients go in and quickly return. I am concerned about his ability to perform a thorough examination in 5 mins. Most of his patients are elderly. He also doesn't wear a mask and is very close to his patient's face when he is performing the eye examinations. These are elderly vulnerable patients. He should be considerate of his elderly patients. The Flu, COVID, and RSV is very high in our community right now.
