Dr. Michael Norman, DO

My daughter had been in the hospital for around nine days when we encountered this doctor. She had severe pain in her stomach and a headache for 10 days. The gastroenterologist was working with us, and I thought doing a good job. This guy came in to my 19 year olds room and told me that he had solve the problem. I tried to tell him that I thought she was having a migraine because she’s had a few in her life. He did not evaluate her, he did not ask her any questions about her headache. He told me “ma’am, I’m not doing a work up for a headache!“ My main concern is for someone who goes in with a headache, and he treats him this way, and then walk out and have a stroke. Be very aware of this doctor! After he did this, I told them that I did not want him on her case anymore. He came back the next day, and when my daughter asked for him to wake me up to talk to her, he told her no that she was the patient and then he leaned forward to talk to her so that I would not wake up.

The only reason that this person (I refuse to call him a doctor) gets one star is because I can’t give him less. I honestly feel like the reason that he is a hospitalist is because he wouldn’t have any patients otherwise. My husband went to one of the West Florida ERs with chest pains. He is a cardio pt with a stent. The ER doctor was great. He sent him by ambulance to West Florida Hospital, where he was admitted for a cardiac consult to check for blockages and to make sure the stent was still working. We were told that the cardiologist would see him the next morning. He wasn’t admitted until after 7pm. MR Norman woke him up at 10:45pm and told him that he had been discharged & to f/u with his PCP. He said he didn’t need to see cardio and to start taking omeprazole again. My husband told him that he was advised by his cardiologist to not take that med ever bc of stent. He gave him an rx and told him she was wrong & doubled his dose. Do NOT go to West FL Hosp. They do NOT care.
