Dr. Michael Torrente, MD

Under Dr. Torrente's care, I have greatly improved. I have been his patient for over fourteen years and I have only been hospitalized once! This is amazing, because under other doctors' care, I was usually hospitalized every six or eight months. It shows what listening and careful prescribing can do. He sees his patients as people and not some sort of ball of symptoms. Dr. Torrente is also a very genuine person.

I really like and trust Dr. Torrente. Everything I say, he truly listens and offers insight. I have been a patient of his for probably four years now, I feel a lot more stable in my life. Other doctors push medicines, Dr. Torrente is cautious to prescribe medicines without fully understanding the patient. It is so rare.

He listens to patients -- really listens. He cares about us as people with lives that are affected by what we are dealing with, and doesn't see us as collections of symptoms. His only real flaw is a tendency to run late. And in fairness, he has improved this and continues to work on it.

Dr. Torrente saved my life in 2012 when I was in major psychosis. He is a very understanding and compassionate man. At the time I did not realize it, as I was delusional, on the streets, going through substance abuse issues and not medicated properly. I met him at scripps hospital.He became my physician and was attentive to my needs and was a major part in reconnecting me with my mom. I was blessed with him helping me attain ssi, and going to rehab.With this help,I was able to go back to school.
