Dr. Michael Townsend, MD

I have been with this practice for quite some time now. What stands out is Dr. Townsend’s swiftness to refer you to another practitioner. I went in for a preop visit and was seen by Rebecca, ARNP. Dr. Townsend usually doesn’t bother doing your preop. The tech did a 30 sec. EKG. The test was abnormal. Why not repeat it? I’m immediately referred to cardiology. They run a battery of expensive testing without finding any problems. The EKG should have been repeated for a longer interval and the leads placed correctly. Beyond disappointed with this office.

Doctor was thorough but quick to order referrals to specialists. Generally dismissive of my concerns. Still in a billing nightmare. I explicitly stated that I was there for my annual physical when checking in. Because the visit was not coded as an annual physical, my health insurance doesn't cover it or the lab tests. Doctor tells me to talk to the front desk. Front desk says talk to billing. Billing says the doctor has to recode the visit. Round and round for 6 months.

Provider listens to concerns, however, is quick to refer to multiple specialists instead of trying to treat the issue as a PCP. I was referred to a urologist, psychologist, gynecologist, and GI specialist within only 2 visits.This was for what I considered to be minor inquiries and something a PCP should be able to address. Please research other patient reviews and concerns on various platforms prior to choosing this doctor as your PCP.

Please believe these reviews!!! The most unprofessional, unorganized laziness I've seen. This is just ridiculous. Never again!!

Very thorough, knowledgeable, values my time, allows me to ask questions, encourages me to be involved in improving my health. When I moved, my last PCP of 40 years told me I would have a hard time finding a doctor because I like to be involved in my healthcare...found him!!

Arrived 15 minutes early to my scheduled appointment time. Was told that since I was late they could not see me. (note I drove over 45 minutes to get to this Dr). I was told at the office as a new patient I had to be there 30 minutes prior to my scheduled time - I asked why was I not told that - they stated they left a voice message stating it the day before the appointment. Nothing was mentioned at the time I made the appointment and I did get a voice message at 4:17pm which my appointment was the very next morning. The staff could care less - you can tell that you are just a number to these place- you are nothing special as an individual. I decided this was not the appropriate place for my family’s PCP. So if your looking for a place that cares about you and you are not just another number to them - you may want to look elsewhere. * I forgot to mention all this happened after I was successfully checked in, paid my co-pay, and was called by the office to come in for my appointment.

Excellent care in a pleasant atmosphere. Dr. & staff are great! Wonderful job staying on top of my high blood pressure. PA on staff is also excellent.
