Resulted in an acute heart attack! Test showed I had very high LDL cholesterol (almost 130). She said reduce meat consumption but failed to write me a statin prescription.

Beware. This physician makes rash judgments without complete information. I would stay clear of SCL health physicians. There are too many internal medicine physicians in Denver that will actually listen and work with patients, but she is not the one.

I would not recommend Dr. Velkoff to anyone. The last 3 appointments I have had she was extremely rude. She has been rushed, and has made the comments, "well that is not important and I don't have time to address that"! I would think extreme hair loss is a concern, being my health issues. Also, the last appointment I had Friday 04/06/18, she says, "I have been working since 3 am, we have only 20 minutes, so you need to pick and choose what is more important to you"! Horrible office altogether.

She is the best internist I have had in 73 years. Very smart and very educated with excellent suggestions and a very common sense approach. An optimistic person who loves medicine and people.

In the beginning, we received good, thorough care from Dr. Velkoff. However, as her practice became busier, she changed from being caring and thorough to cold and nasty. On the rare occasion my husband or I would come in for a sick visit, she was short/dismissive. On a night where my husband was just violently throwing up, i called the on call physician and it happened to be her. After i described his symptoms, she nastily told me “i don’t know what you want me to tell you and basically hung up

Dr. Velkoff may be fine but her staff is not. I don't know if that is due to orders from the doctor or just the staff itself. I went to the wrong hospital and was at the wrong hospital on time. It was a few blocks from Dr. Velkoff's office. I called them and explained I was a few blocks away and would be there. I arrived right at 10 minutes past my appt.. They would not let me see the doctor even though they had a sign which read "If you have waited 10 minutes please let us know".
