Infertility Appt
I recently had a new patient appointment with Dr Roach for infertility. I had a missed miscarriage late last year and we have been trying again for about 5 months. She was everything but encouraging. A very matter a fact physician especially when it comes to data and statistics. I had to reel her in several times since her “statistics” had women my age starting their infertility journey at donor eggs! Fortunately we closed the appointment on the same page starting with the most noninvasive options. I definitely believe women on infertility journeys need to hear the facts and the data, but delivery, tact and bedside manner is of upmost importance! Thank goodness I understand advocating for myself and my body.

I'm quite discouraged and confused as I read her good reviews before my app with her thought I'd be in good hands however as soon as dr Roach walked in the room were bad vibes. She had a cold look on her face and no expression. She didn't say anything and looked at me like I wasnt there. She barely spoke only a few words and did not explain anything directed at me other than do u have any questions. I told her that I am propped a certain way on the bed she completely disregarded anything I had to say. She was very distant and quiet. There was no getting any answers or clarity. I told her the pain I had and that I ovulate too early in my cycle but didn't have anything in response. I expected the sis procedure would cause discomfort and I was prepared for that but I believe being on the bed wrong made it more painful. It was really bad pain on one side especially and the results were normal no issues found so If the pain I had was normal I don't know..maybe.. but the problem was being treated like a number not a human by her. I felt really uncomfortable. I am there trusting someone I dont know to mess with my organs I expect them to be at least be friendly and reassuring as other doctors have. She was not. Only reason I didn't walk out is because it took me an hour to get there and I couldn't waste my trip and this procedure has been long past due for me. I'm always polite and easy to be around I don't know what her deal was. However I gave this place two stars because everyone else there seemed nice and informative especially Britney. The assistant nurse who was in the room with me as well. She was very helpful and connecting and she cared. I felt dizzy like I'd pass out afterwards and she checked on me made sure I was ok. Britney was very polite. Thanks Britney. if it wasn't for her I would have been really upset with the entire experience.

I've been seeing Dr. Roach for several years now. She has been through multiple miscarriages with me, performed a D&C for me, and most recently, helped me to get pregnant again after struggling with an inconsistent cycle post-miscarriage. She is kind, attentive, prompt, and genuinely seems to care about her patients. I couldn't recommended her more, especially if you're looking for a doctor that truly respects your experiences and your feelings.

She is a technician more than a clinician. Knows her stuff but does not have much of a bedside manner. She refused to give a hysterectomy "in case [I] wanted children later" so I got a myomectomy instead. Two years later the fibroids were back and it was time for another surgery.

I have been seeing Dr. Roach since November 2019 for PCOS and trying to conceive. She has been very knowledgeable and helpful for me during this process. We went to a fertility clinic to get a semen analysis done on my husband and the physician there gave me a plan they thought I should follow. When I messaged Dr. Roach about it she offered to call me after her clinic hours and discussed the options that had been proposed to me and her thoughts based on the treatments I had been receiving from her. She made feel immediately comfortable and solidified my decision to stay in her care during this process.

When I called to make my annual appointment I was told that she is moving her practice to specialize in infertility but would still see her current patients. I waited 3 months for my appointment only to get a voicemail the day before my appointment that she would not be available & asked me to call to reschedule. When I did, I was told that she is no longer practicing "women's health" and concentrating on her new speciality. They did not even offer a recommendation of another doctor, so now I'm on the search for a new OB/GYN.

I came to Dr. Roach with PCOS with persistent bleeding and raging unpredictable hormones for approx 1 year. Dr. Roach is an expert in PCOS and worked with me over the course of six months. She perfectly performed 3 surgical procedures, the final a hysterectomy leaving the ovaries, which has freed me from a lifetime of awful PCOS induced menstrual issues. She was thorough and thoughtful, always happy to answer my questions in person and via the online health portal. On the morning following my surgery she rounded on me early and due to her excellent work I was able to be discharged hours early with no fuss. I am 3.5 weeks post op and have healed perfectly. I get to return to work at 4 weeks and am freed of fear from the cancerous changes she'd found and from the whims of my uterus. I am very grateful for the attentive and excellent care.

I am a resident physician at Vanderbilt and when I was having GYN issues several of my peers recommended that I see Dr. Roach. She was very thorough and organized and I was impressed with how much she was able to do for me in a short 15 minute visit in a busy clinic. She is an excellent provider and I will be referring any patients with complicated GYN issues to her in the future.

Dr. Roach performed my D and C surgery due to me miscarrying. Prior to the surgery, she introduced herself and told me I would not be able oo have children unless I had an additional surgery. After my husband and I asked questions, she went to check the chart and realized she mixed my diagnosis with another patient. Her staff at the hospital also did not completely perform the pathology test. I will now never know the gender of the baby I lost.

I began seeing Dr. Roach at the beginning of the year for my pregnancy. All of my visits have been short and impersonal. At one visit she didn’t even realize that we had met previously. She is often too nonchalant. I’ve literally had to ask her to look at my ultrasound reports during our appointments. At times my visit is have literallly lasted five minutes, with her not even looking into the computer to view my file information. She doesn’t seem to be concerned and doesn’t seem knowledgable.

As the husband of a Physician (her first pregnancy) and having been through this process before (I have an 11 year old), my experience with Dr. Roach was highly disturbing when she miscarried. This fresh-out-of-Residency Phys only spends about 5 minutes per patient in a high-volume Vanderbilt clinic (maximize those billable RVU's!), and there's no way to give quality care. A Traumatic experience to begin with, having the doc refuse to see you after you find out you miscarried is unacceptable.
