Again, he dismissed my thoughts on the tailbone theory. During our conversation, I had this distinct impression that he thought I was somehow drug seeking. I simply wanted the pain to stop. Unfortunately, I listened to him and dealt with the pain as best as I could. Fast forward to 2024: The pain increased to the point that I was taking 8 Ibuprofen in the morning, 4 at lunchtime and 8 prior to going to bed. As time progressed, my kidneys began to protest. I then sought advice from another Doc who performed more tests and placed me on a steroidal medication to give my Kidneys a break from the Ibuprofen. The results? Yes, an injured - fractured tailbone. Approximately 9 years of constant chronic pain. I write this to warn others. Please don’t take one Docs opinion. Seek several opinions. You know your body better than most Docs and it was my downfall for not seeking another opinion earlier. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

Referred to Dr Zhukalin by Emory Atlanta for back pain and hip evaluation. Doctor Zhukalin was professional , knowledgeable and generous with his time to explain my CT scan and it’s meaning for me for pain relief. I would highly recommend him for anyone looking for a kind helpful physician!

Dr. Zhukalin is one of the best physicians I have ever met. He listens. He is knowledgeable and skilled. And one of the things that sets him apart is that he genuinely cares about his patients. I did not expect such great service from Dr. Zhukalin and his staff. As soon as I arrive they're waiting by the elevator. Dr. Zhukalin has great bedside manner and really listens when I speak. His assistant Brandon is awesome the way he supports the doctor and makes me feel like I'm in safe confidential hands.

Dr. Zhukalin performed my second RFA a week ago. The procedure is one that prevented debilitating pain in my lower back. For many years, physicians just prescribed medications to mask the pain. Dr Zhukalin introduced the RFA as an option. I had the first RFA December 2016. I did not need another pill until July of this year. Amazing... I will continue this procedure, as needed, as my nerves regenerate. He is well worth the travel to work with!

After my car accident, Dr. Zhukalin was the only Dr. to get my pain under control (and I saw several). He's very friendly and courteous and professional, explains where the patient understands and listen to the patient and then discuss the plan of treatment. I highly recommend his expertise.

Having a lot of experience as a patient at Emory Orthopaedics and Spine including multiple surgeries, I highly value Dr. Z's expertise. He is very thoughtful and transparent as he approaches solutions to pain management and treatment. In my case, he as been successful in treating continuing problems with spinal arthritis without surgery. He is an excellent first step in solving back pain problems.

Very, very nice!!! Dr Zhukalin was able to give me so much information about the pain I have been experiencing in my lower back, hip, and thigh area. We discussed ways to relieve the pain, and make surgery the last result.

Dr. Zhukalin is a great doctor plus we don’t have barriers for languages (we speak Russian). I had a bad experience with another doctors and procedure fail and I was in terrible pain. With Dr. Zhukalin I already had four injections in my hip and I have never had problems, he’s very professional and procedure takes no more than 10 minutes and I am not in pain. For 2-years I struggled with pain, physical limitations and worry for my future after a long trip to the Middle East. Compressed nerves was the diagnosis and 2 different chiropractors didn't help me.
