Competent, responsive, and caring neurologist
After a poor experience with another Kaiser Permanente neurologist who took 2.5 months to respond to an email, I reviewed the Kaiser biographies and chose Mikula Stambuk. At our appointment, he conducted a thorough exam and took much time to answer my many questions about the expected progression of my movement disorder plus treatment options, without talking down to me. For the past year, we have communicated online, and he is quick to respond, correcting me when I have acquired erroneous internet information. He stays current on the latest research. He has alternatives if a medication isn't effective. He takes the initiative to collaborate with my other doctors. When I recently failed to respond to an email message within a few days, he called me, spending a half hour on the phone, dispelling some doubts and answering all my questions. Dr. Stambuk goes way beyond what I have ever experienced from a doctor and he has my highest recommendation.

Dr. Stambuk is a good doctor and I don't have an issue with him. His only problem is his office staff who are terrible. They called me 2 hours before my appointment to remind me about the appointment. I live an hour and half away. When asked about not reminding me the day before they said they just didn't get to it. In order to reschedule I would have to wait 3 months. Incompetence and arrogance. Not what a stroke patient needs.
