Dr. Mimi Balch, MD

Very thorough exam and tests. Very concerned about my problem

I saw Dr. Balch twice. That was more than enough to convince me she was not a very good doctor. Bottom line she said I had stage 3 kidney disease based on my blood results. She never ordered a urinalysis to rule out or confirm this. My new doctor did. Guess what? My urinalysis results are excellent. My kidneys are working just fine. Aside from that she is not friendly at all and very impersonal never called me by my name. I wouldn’t put my life in her hands!

If you are looking for a doctor who will refer you to a specialist or recommend tests to run, then she is fine. If you want someone who will listen to your concerns as a patient, reviews your labs ahead of time, explains diagnosis to you or acts like she cares about you in the least bit, then you are probably better off looking elsewhere.

The last 3 visits to Dr. Balch were a nightmare. I waited from 45 min to an hour before I even saw the Dr. She only spent 110-15 min with me so I don't understand why she is always behind, especially when my last appt was at 9 AM. How can you get 45 min behind schedule at that hour of the morning. The only thing she does is order tests and give you the results. She always sends you to a specialist. Never apologies for keeping you waiting and when you complain she gets very defensive and tells you that she has patients much sicker than you. Do I care? No, I just want to be seen within 15-20 minutes of my appt time. Perhaps she should learn how to schedule her patients better. I will be finding another doctor.

Dr. Balch used to be a good doctor who would take time to listen to her patients. But, between her tendency to look for any small reason to run tests at their location and the fact that she was downright short with me the last time I visited her office, I took my business elsewhere; I changed doctors AND practices! Plus, my current doctor knew what was wrong immediately! When you're trying to explain a condition to a doctor and she doesn't get what the problem is, she should try to find out instead of treating you like you're wasting her time. That is exactly how I felt - both she and her nurse, who appeared to be having a bad day! If I'm paying to see the doctor, then there IS a real health problem. Dr. Balch needs to start listening to her patients again; I WILL NOT have a doctor who treats me like I'm a waste of time. The only reason I gave her two starts instead of one is because I know she is capable of being a much better doctor than she acted the last couple of times I saw her.

Patient, understanding, and very intelligent. Very up to date on newest medical news and i willing to put into practice.

First visit was very disappointing! Dr Balch spent little time with me. Visit was back on Sep 11th. Tests were ordered that I never received call back on results. After MANY calls, STILL NO ONE has called me as promised. When I would call I was always told someone would call me back! Was told I needed a urine test in order to get a prescription renewed that I HAVE BEEN taking. Went into their clinic to have test done...never got a call on results and when I did call (again after MANY calls)... I was told they ordered the WRONG TEST. So STILL no prescription! Dr. Balch's nurse is rude and very un-caring! I am not going back and I have found a "NEW" PCP! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DR OR OFFICE!

Dr Balch has been my Primary Dr for almost three years..She is always very thorough and listens to all my concerns. I prefer a woman Dr because I feel they experience the same symptoms and understand my feelings. I recommend her to my friends who are new to the area. One of the hardest things about moving is establishing new Drs. She never disappoints me. Strongly recommend her.

Since retiring to Ocala I feel very blessed to have found Dr Mimi Balch. She's very kind, knowledgeable and professional. She takes the time to listen to the patient, evaluates, and give specific feedback. And as a woman, having a female primary care physician has always been important to me. She is a five-star doctor in my eyes and I would recommend her to any of my friends.

I am so glad to have found doctor Balch. Lots of below average care out there but she is my advocate in addition to being my provider. Best primary care physician that I have ever had.

Great with my family then WAY DOWN. Will have an appt. get called hour late then wait 45 mins in hall then 20 to 30 mins in the room before seen. All that time, think she would have reviewed your chart has no clue. Greeted once with "oh you again" not nice. Consistently showing compassion has gone. Out for more patients, more money rather than quality of care. She or staff is calling in prescriptions to wrong pharmacies even when on chart, call for a refill 48 hours still not ordered. Says going to get a specialist forgets to set up. Not reviewing results from a specialist. Req. you to call for appt. call, no call back took 4 days, 4 phone calls then attitude. Routine exams are missed like physicals, mammograms even with history of cancer. Doctor request to her are being ignored. Rarely follows up with them. Surgeries excetra delayed that wouldn't due to her indesions. 1 good staff member. Scribe major attitude and shows. Feel like a bother. Not going back. Very disappointed and upset.

Dr. Balch has been my primary physician for two plus years. I am 71 and have seen her for regular checkups and occasional problems that have come up. She is very, very knowledgeable about every problem I have raised and knows the latest information available. She listens well, and takes the time to explain all alternative treatments. She has also referred me to different specialists or evaluations, and I have been happy with the overall procedures. I trust her with any health situation.

I found Dr. Balch unfriendly and focused on how many tests and office visits she could schedule. Not a fit for me.
