Unhelpful and unavailable
Fails to respond. Fails to communicate. Does not do what she says she will. Puts false info in medical records. Dismissed my husbands health concerns— he subsequently had 2 heart attacks. Her response was, “glad you didn’t die.”

  • Appointment wasn't rushed
  • Wait times
What could be improved
  • I didn't feel respected
  • Difficult to schedule appointment
  • Didn't listen or answer questions
  • Didn't explain conditions well
  • Staff wasn't friendly
  • Didn't trust the provider's decisions

If you just need a physical, maybe. If sick, no.
As a caregiver for someone w/ severe chronic illness, we saw Dr. Ogawa to find a good GP in the UCSF system to help coordinate care w/ specialists. Dr. Ogawa was not the right fit for us. Her attempts to empathize were infantilizing. She was totally ignorant of one of the major sequelae of the patient's condition and shot down our attempt to look into it further. We did anyway, and an experienced UCSF cardiologist immediately recognized the condition, made a diagnosis & made a treatment plan. Thank God we didn't listen to Dr. Ogawa's dismissiveness (we knew she was wrong & said so). She offered no real options for clinical or supportive care of any kind. She basically told us to go home and wait it out, potentially for years. And then finished brightly with "do come back for your preventive check up!" to someone who is seriously ill and bound to a wheelchair/bed. Just incredibly tone deaf; we were in disbelief. Thankfully we won't see her again, and I don't recommend you do.
