Insensitive Unprofessional Bedside Manner
Left me in tears after telling me nothing positive after bringing up fertility testing. I expressed my regrets in waiting until 40 and it was evident I felt nervous. I received zero zero zero positive not one thing I could say I could recall to rid the tears after while sitting in parked car, I DID hear at least 6-7x “..and as I said again, the biggest factor is your age” Along with literally having to hear “no point in either the blood tests or ultrasound” when I asked what best option. Continued with “..you can show perfect amount or quantity of eggs yet more likely than not, can be low poor quality” REALLY?! almost mean. “I’d just say take it with a grain of salt but I don’t recon bothering until u get sexually active and begin with an ovulation kit” that was it bc she was halfway through door.

She's rude, has no compassion. She did a painful procedure and told me to get hold of my anxiety while she laughed. I left in tears. She is a disgrace to the medical field. Do not go to her!

Rude
Dr Shaffran is rude and disinterested. She completely lacks bed side manor. I would not recommend her to anyone. She makes rude remarks, is annoyed when you ask questions about your care and is rushing you out as quick as possible.

Starlight
I've been going to Dr. Shaffran on and off for a few years now and each time, it just gets worse. She's passive aggressive and always seems like she's in a rush. She has no bedside manner and I always end up feeling roughed up after seeing her. It's as if she doesn't even try to be gentle or take your mind off the exam. She'll also make remarks about your weight instead of asking you first if it's a concern or if you'd like to talk about it. She really doesn't have very good bedside manner whatsoever. The last appointment I had with her had to be rescheduled because no one told the office staff that she got called into the hospital and couldn't come in for an unknown about of time. Normally, I'd be fine with that, but knowing how she is as a doctor, it just rubbed me the wrong way.

A doctor isn't necessarily their reviews
I was nervous meeting Dr. Shaffran because of these reviews but she was an absolute delight! I'm dealing with an unknown painful issue in my pelvic area and lower back at the moment and Dr. Shaffran was very thorough, answered all my questions and even took a test I requested. She was gentle, I barely felt a thing! No pain! Beautiful and kind doctor. She left the room for a few so I could undress and apologized for keeping me waiting, which wasn't even too long. As another patient said, to each their own. Im keeping her as my new gyno and I prefer my gynecologist to be female so it's a match for me! Thank you Dr. Shaffran! ??????

Run, Don’t Walk
What a HORRIBLE experience. My gynecologist who I had been with for 20 years retired. A friend, who is no longer a friend, recommended Dr. Shaffran to me. Whereas my previous gynecologist was kind, warm, and caring, this doctor was the OPPOSITE. Whereas my previous gynecologist listened, took her time with me, and cared about my worries and concerns, this doctor was on her computer for the whole 5 minutes the visit lasted. She could not have cared less about me as a nervous patient or getting to know me at all. As the cliche goes, I was a nameless face. I was literally shell shocked at how horrendously I was treated. I was not used to this. My daughter and I have obviously left and have found a lovely, caring doctor like my previous doctor. I made the mistake of not reading reviews. Please do not make the same mistake.

This woman is truly a terrible doctor and human being. Steer clear no matter what the circumstances are. You would be better off not going to a doctor period than going to her.

A big change in Dr Shaffran
I have been a long time patient of Doctor Shaffran and she was someone that I had faith in when it came to my issues. She listened and gave me good advice. But there was a time when she left the practice because I think there were family issues but I could be wrong. She returned but her demeanor and attitude and way of dealing with me were definitely off target. I am sorry that so many patients had such bad reviews of her. I will look for another doctor.

The best
I have been with suf obgyn for over 28 years. I didn't start seeing Dr. Shaffran until 2018 after another doctor's retirement. All I can say is I never knew that an annual exam could be so gentle and so stress free. She is kind, pleasant and very knowledgeable. I have a long and involved medical history with the the practice and health wise in general. Dr. Shaffran was patient, thorough and provided very good follow-up information and directions. I am so impressed that now both my daughters see her as well.

I saw this doctor twice and she was very abrupt and treated me like I was taking up too much of her time. She said I needed a Sonohysterography and performed the procedure during the next appointment. She told me that there would be very little pain and discomfort. She completely lied. The procedure was unbearable and I asked her to stop performing it as I was in so much pain. She refused and I began crying and telling her it hurt. She and the nurse started laughing at me. Horrible doctor!

My wife sought Dr. Shaffran's counsel when experienced a gynecological infection. Unfortunately, after an exceeding brief examination, Dr. Shaffran insisted that the symptoms indicated a sexually transmitted infection; thereafter, she refused to hear any explanation f on why that diagnosis was highly unlikely (i.e., 15 years of monogamy). Dr. Shaffran's exact words were, "I don't want to hear about your personal affairs." Labs confirmed that the condition was not an STI, but a benign and tra

DO NOT RECOMMEND! Her sarcastic remarks we're uncalled for throughout the entire visit starting with her "taking the plunge" remark to us wanting to remove the IUD to try getting pregnant, when we have children already. Insinuating that my fiance was "falling asleep" when doing the pap smear. He didn't want to look since he gets queasy. Insinuating that I didn't have a license OR a car. She basically put off the IUD removal til another appointment. She made us feel like we were lower class scum.

I love Dr. Shaffran. She has always been kind, knowledgeable and informative since day 1. I have been her patient for 30 years! She delivered my children and now my daughters see her too. I only hope she doesn’t retire before my granddaughters come of age. There is no greater testament than a multigenerational!

I started seeing Dr. Shaffran when I was a teenager. My first pregnancy was twins and was high risk. Dr. S took meticulous care of me and my babies. When my water broke and one baby’s heart rate suddenly dropped, she performed a prompt emergency cesarean section. Both boys did great! Years later I needed a hysterectomy for fibroids and anemia. Dr. S did such a great job. My husband and I can barely find the scars even after two surgeries. Sometimes it’s hard to get an appointment but well worth
