Dr. Mitchell Porias, DO

I had an appointment with Dr. Porias. After 1 1/2 hours, he still had not shown up. Receptionist came and told 3 of us that had already had our eyes dilated that he was not in the building and they did t know when he would arrive. She said if we left without seeing him we WOULD NOT be charged for the visit. Fast forward a few weeks later, I receive a phone call requesting the balance of my bill. They had billed my insurance for services I never received, my insurance had paid and there was a balance due. I was threatened that it would be turned over to collections. So, emails and phone calls began. They finally contacted my insurance and reversed the charges. After receiving a bill in the mail, I contacted the, again. This was finally taken care of. I insisted on something in writing that I was too not be billed for services I did not receive and that I did not owe Dr. Porias anything. I will not use him or HEA due to the lack of respect toward patients. He deserves 0 stars

Refused to administer a medical test ordered by and required by my rheumatologist (field of vision test) as part of my eye exam. They lie to patients telling them they have to come back on another day to get that test but there is no medical, staffing, or any other reason for this requirement other than that they want to double charge the patient for necessary procedures. I have put in a complaint with the Texas medical board (pending). Very rude staff.

Does not try to sell you on additional procedures

Dr. Porias is personable, however, I've seen him four times and he has been one to two hours late each time. Two weeks ago I waited two hours. I rescheduled that appointment for first thing this morning. After 67 minutes of waiting, I cancelled because he had not even arrived in the building yet. I'm done.

A ZEROO; He is by far the WORSEEEEE doctor I have seen; I went to see him he did a brief test and asked me to start glaucoma treatment (Rocklatan) I am 43. I was hesitant as he said he would want to do a field test in 2 week but start the drops anyways. I made an appt after a week; waited for 4 hours to be taken to do a field test and then be told just continue to take the drops even before my field test was done. I requested to see the doc as I had no family history of Glaucoma; pressure was normal, field tests were normal yet the doc wanted me to continue with the treatment. When I saw the doc briefly he was irritated rude, disrespectful, and discounted by requested to see my previous years of records. I left very humiliated and insulted; I called a Glaucoma specialist he said THERE IS no way any doc should start treatment with my symptoms on the first visit and that too the STRONGEST medicine (Rocklatan). He was more empathetic and caring in the 7 mins he spoke to me on the phone.

Dr. Porias was a very excellent ophthalmologist. He was very friendly, very thorough and explained things so I could understand what was happening with my eyes.

My experience with Houston Eye Associates with Dr Porias and then with Dr. Fredrickson, on the Loop by Office Depot.....I wish we would have read the reviews earlier. First appointment we waited over an hour and a half. Second appointment they called less than an hour before the appointment time, to cancel because the tech was at a different office. They didn’t know that ahead of time???? If you cancel on drs less than 24 hours in advance they want to charge you but they cancel on me less than a hour before the appointment? They said someone would call to rebook. They never did. I called and rebooked. When we arrived on the Wednesday for the test, which is the only day they said they do these tests, they said "we don’t do them on Wednesday. After calling someone, they did the tests. After my tests I never heard back from anyone so I called several times. Was told it would take A WEEK for the dr to read the tests of a visual field test. I took my (84 years old) mother to see Dr. Porias because she had been complaining about seeing a blue and black line in her eye, the nurse briefly looked at her eyes with a light and then dilated her eye, and asked her to read the chart, with her eyes dilated obviously she couldn't. Dr. Porias then came in, asked what was happening, my mother explained again what the problem was and without looking in her eye and just briefly checking things on a computer told her everything was ok, just go home and keep using the drops that another doctor had prescribed her before and sent her home. The next day we saw another Eye Doctor who immediately set an emergency appointment to see another Specialist because she has been bleeding behind her eye.

Dr Porias was extremely nice and explained my eye condo very well. Highly recommend!

hi folks, I'd like to express that I didn't know what to except on my own though Dr. Porias did explain everything but to me this was a new experience. To me everything was perfect,especially having near perfect vision. I was able to see very well at night n certain things during the day but now my world is very bright n more colorful than it has been in years. Thank you, Juan Flores

The doctor showed up at work an hour after he was scheduled to see his first patient. I waited an hour and a half before giving up with 8 patients still ahead of me.

Dr. Porias is an excellent ophthalmologist. He is thorough and methodological in his approach and takes good care of his patients.

Dr. Porias is a very kind and understanding man. He takes your eye Health serious and make the best recommendation for you. I appreciate his honesty and sincere recommendation for my eye health. He was highly recommended to me by two friends who truly appreciate him. I feel comfortable and safe coming to his Clinic.

Our appointment was a great experience with Dr. Porias Wednesday, 5/31/17. The entire staff was courteous and Dr. Porias saw us promptly on schedule for our appointed time. He coordinated his staff efficiently to expedite our visit and the entire office seemed to work together well under Dr. Porias' direction to make our visit pleasant and productive. Thanks everyone!
