Not recommended
Dr. Rafiq suddenly stopped wanting to see me when I said my antipsychotic medication wasn’t working, seemed annoyed. He didn’t even taper me off my 50mg Quetiapine which I had already been taking for a month. I went into bad episodes after, apart from that, meetings were fast, around 10 minutes or so and I felt a little disrespected and not listened to. Overall I don’t recommend him.

Move ON
This doctor abruptly told me that he did not want to see my son any longer without an explanation. I did not challenge him because I believed it was for the best that I moved on given the fact of my knowledge of his complaints and low reviews. His stupid assistant is sending me a $50 bill (90-120 days later) from collections of a cancellation with insufficient notice. When I got this, I said that I need to make a formal complaint regarding this guy by contacting VA DEPT OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS.

LOVE HIM!
I am very shocked to see the low reviews, and cannot help but think there must have been some miscommunication somewhere. Dr. Rafiq has been our saving grace helping our 14 year old partially verbal Autistic son. When he first saw our son he was in the Psychiatric hospital and was aggressive and violent hurting himself and us. Dr. Rafiq patiently worked through with us and we are doing much better. We feel confident and thankful to have Dr. Rafiq on our side, I hope he NEVER retires.

Judgy 'doctor'
He doesn’t care about his patients and doesn’t listen to anything you have to say. It felt like I was walking on eggshells talking to him.

As another review already posted. He was straightforward with our child, my wife, and I. He worked very hardI’m trying to find the right combination of medication for our son to fit his needs. We have been with him for years now.

I signed a consent agreement before my first visit, that he would not share any information with anyone, except for the obvious - if I'm going to hurt myself or someone else. Within the first visit, he told my mother everything I said to him, convinced my mother to send me to rehab & didn't even bother reading my exstensive medical history that we typed up for him. He has no compassion for other people or their well being. The waiting room & people in it even felt off.

I saw Dr. Rafiq after a year, and he didnt ask why I came back after so long or why I stopped coming. Instead his receptionist asked me questions which felt more like an interrogation by phone. Once I had question's for him about disability, he quickly told me he does not have time to write letters or anything of the sort. He also based his own judgement which felt personal and not professional about how severe my anxiety is. He did not show interested trying to help me.

We've been with Dr. Rafiq for almost 2 years. He does tend to medicate heavy handed, however he spends the time to talk with me and my child and whomever else I bring to the appointments with me. His administrator is very quick to respond to phone messages and emails. Dr. Rafiq also helped us by writing a note for me to take to the school for an IEP meeting. The note was instrumental in getting what my son needed at school.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Rafiq?
Dr. Rafiq is not interested in working together as a team. He is more of an authoritarian doctor vs one who takes a collaborative approach. Medications and therapeutic approaches are not really recommendations he is not open to disagreements. After my visit in Dec. 2016 I left distraught a few wks later he sent me a letter telling me that he could no longer see me. A phone call would have been a lot more professional and safer, I was seeing him for chronic depression.

If I could give him a 0 Star, I would. The last review was exactly right. He believes in heavy medication(quick fix) and could care less about the long term effects. I strictly, told him, several times, NOT too heavily medicate my young child, to start off small and then we will go from there. That went in 1 ear and out the other. Maybe he is getting money by these drug reps for pushing the medicine, I don't know, but this man is in the wrong profession!

Can't call him "Doctor". Mohammad Rafiq treats people without informed consent and uses heavy medication without accurate diagnosis. I wish I would have money to sue him.
