Dr. Mudhasir Bashir, MD

I regret seeking help at UVA as I was seen in the hospital by Dr. Bashir. She has a terrible bedside manner. I personally feel she is not an asset to the medical field. If I could only explain what happened in this forum you would avoid UVA for mental health care and perhaps ALL medicine.

Dr Bashir has always been straight up and honest with me in my care. Sets realistic expectations on what medication can help with and what requires therapy. Always professional and attentive.

I am dreading the meeting with her. I will write up the result. I made a clear well reasoned request for a specific agenda for our meeting. The reason I am seeing her is that an LPN with one year of education had the nerve to slap a diagnostic label on me. Dr. Bashir concurred. I am now on meds which have several noxious side effects. My primary care doctor gave me a list of the symptoms treated by these meds. I have none of the symptoms. Want meds D/Cd Meeting tomorrow

I was released from UVA before I felt like I should have been. I told Dr. Bashir this. I asked for my doctor to be changed. It was not done. I talked to patient relations before I was released. They did nothing either. This is why people that are suffering from mental health emergencies don't go get help. When you are suffering from depression, you should be helped. Dr. Bashir did what she wanted in my care. I did not have a say. I complained to anyone that would listen at Uva.

She was very pleasant, attentive and pay close attention to differential diagnosis. Always smile put me at ease. I was an inpatient for more than 20 days and she was my doctor the whole time. I enjoyed dealings with her and had very positive experiences.

Excellent Doctor! Accomodates very well to all your needs. She is very understanding and comes up with solutions to your problems after debating the solution with you. Highly recommended.

Dr. Bashir is an excellent Psychiatrist who cares about her patients. She takes time and treats her patients with care and concern. She was direct and accurate in all she told me. I appreciate her going the extra mile for me.

I have come across my share of bad mental health professionals during the course of my life, but Dr. Bashir might just take the cake. She is intelligent, but to say her "bedside manner" is lacking would be an extreme understatement. She is rude, likes to throw around borderline as a diagnosis way more frequently than is actually accurate, and I have seen her mistreat many patients during the years I have known her. Brushing up on bedside manner might do her and everyone in her care a lot of good
