Blessedly - I have NEVER had ANY previous surgical procedures OR needed to stay IN a hospital, but my experience meeting with Dr. Pianim about my condition ASSUAGED my CONCERNS about surgery. The mere fact of HOW calmly, kindly AND with compassion that she described to me the WHAT, HOW, and WHY she would be PERFORMING the procedure (and that it was a big surgery, but she felt COMFORTABLE in her ability) which allowed me to be confident all would be well shows that she should TEACH a 'Master Class' in bedside manners. What a REMARKABLE individual that Kaiser has in the Harbor City facility; I am so PROUD and HONORED to give the highest recommendation for the SKILL level that Dr. Pianim presents. Not only is there TALENT, but also friendliness AND an automatic 'put-one-at-ease' FEELING. Thank you for performing MY surgery and for being available w/your 'healing hands' for to help OTHERS. Very kind and extremely knowledgeable. She explains everything in detail and is very caring. I had Colon Cancer in 2015 and she was my surgeon. I never forgot how she treated me and cared for me. She came to see me everyday I was in the hospital. My recovery was awesome thanks to her. She is an excellent surgeon with an amazing personality!! I will never forget her.

During covid-19 pandemic, I chose to do a phone conference with Dr Pianin. She explained my procedure thoroughly, answered all my questions and put me at ease. I could tell right off with her tone and mannerism that she loved her job, was extremely qualified and passionate about her patients outcome. I have been a Charge Nurse Rn for 31 years so I have met many MD’s. I had my lap appy and am grateful that the polyp attached to my appendix did not appear cancerous, therefore I did not have to have the partial Rt colectomy. I am writing this review 7 1/2 hrs post op because I feel great. I have not experienced any nausea or pain, and I think it is mostly because of her thoroughness, technique, and her caring attitude in the way she delivers her work. Thank you, Dr Pianin and the entire to the Kaiser Permanente Staff for the excellent care I experienced.

Dr. Pianim met us while in the Emergency Room at Kaiser, SouthBay. It was after midnight and my girl had what appeared to be a ruptured appendix. She was genuinely kind, confident, and outlined in detail, the steps ahead. We felt secure from the git go and lucky to have had her on call this evening.

Dr Pianum was my father's surgeon for the removal of his stage 3 rectal tumor. My dad was so nervous about the entire surgery process, before he met Dr Pianim. With her kind demeanor, my father was immediately put at ease. Dr Pianim was so thorough in her explanation of what was going to occur that we all left the pre-op appt feeling much more confident that everything was going to be ok. And, it turned out that everything went great! After a 6 hour surgery, dad became cancer free!
