Needed cardiologist approval for an operation. Referred doctor couldn't see me for a month. Pillai was available. Was not pleased with him at first meeting, but felt that, I rode 12 miles a day on my bike for years, never had chest pains, no family history etc. So was fairly certain all would be okay. Had a stress test, Echo cardiogram. Several days later saw Dr. Pillai. Very grim. Said I needed an Angiogram and most likely a Stent. Claimed one of the arteries to my heart was weakened. Showed me nothing to substantiate this finding. As I got up to leave he said "You have less than a 5% chance of not having a Stent". Also told me I could not have the surgery for one month and then would need to take a blood thinner a month. I decided that my comfort level with Dr. Pillai was nil and I would seek a second opinion. The second cardiologist I saw reviewed the findings of my stress test etc. found nothing wrong with anything. Approved me for the operation. It went fine.

This doctor couldn't be bothered to find an alternate to pain medication fentanyl or morphine which make me violently vomit to perform my procedure in a hospital (not like they couldn't get) and did the procedure with a little forget medicine (which obviously didn't work since I am posting review) and benadryl. During procedure I gagged and wretched the whole time esophageal echo was down my throat and screamed with the cardio version shock which was one of the most painful things of my life.

I saw Dr Pillai after my pulmonologist recommended this group for further investigation after a chest CT turned up something troubling. Dr Pillai spent the majority of his time with me glued to his computer. He did not do a complete exam, I don't feel like he listened to me, his attitude was dismissive. When I requested a follow-up with a different doctor, I was informed he would have to "approve" before I could be scheduled with another provider. I will not see him again.

I made an appointment for my mom to see Dr. Pillai and I was very pleasantly surprised at how warm the office feels for a doctor's office. Although the his office has a large group of doctors and is very busy, he spent more time with my mom than most doctors. He was very thorough, made sure her questions were answered, and his entire gave her excellent care. He's very warm and friendly and so is his staff. Dr. Pillai, thank you for your kindness and professionalism!

Dr. Pillai made my first cardiologist experience a great experience! He was personable with me during our initial consultation and on the follow up, he expressed the same amount of concern. He understood the issues I was having with my upcoming surgery, which put me at ease.
