I had a terrible experience with Dr. Malik. I have Hashimotos disease and take thyroid medication (levothyroxine). I need to take blood test for TSH levels every 6 months and increase levothyroxine dosage if TSH is out of range. Dr. Malik read my test results, which clearly indicate TSH is out of range and said my TSH is "mildly elevated" and that I should continue with the same dosage. For someone who suffers from Hashimotos, being prescribed less than required dosage of levothyroxine can have devastating effects on all aspects of one's life. I constantly felt under the weather, had trouble with my studies and had to retake multiple crucial exams just because a so called doctor could not read a test result. By the way, for those who are familiar with the TSH test, my TSH level was above 6, which is a horrifying number.

Dr. Malik overlooked a potentially serious autoimmune disease, blaming my symptoms instead on stress and anxiety. Upon a follow-up visit Dr. Malik refused to acknowledge my diagnosis (a dx that 2 other doctors already confirmed), stated that she felt I exhibited a “chronic pattern” of clinic visits more indicative of allergies and anxiety, suggested I make use of the university counseling available, and then dismissed me saying that there was nothing else she could do for me.
