Careless at best, dangerous for pain patients
Referred to him as a pain expert who helps EDS patients. Also diagnosed with CRPS for 15+ years. We covered what helped and what didn't. The list of what did not work was long, and when I told him what helped he dismissed all things, and even mocked one of the treatments to the med student with him saying that patients with EDS are foolish to try it, misexplaining how it works. But it had worked for me, amazingly well and is an accepted practice. I requested several other research established pain approaches, all covered by my insurance, including electrostim, but he denied them because he didn't believe in them and that was the only rationale given. I supported a vulnerable relative later, also diagnosed by genetics. he made her do invasive re-testing. He asked her similar questions to what helped. We found out he labeled her as drug-seeking simply because she said oxycodone helped. Also put a psych label in chart without a psych eval for 'overfocus on pain' at a pain clinic visit.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR!
Both my husband and myself have been treated by Dr. Rudin in the past. Personality wise, we both found him obnoxious, abrupt, and rude. As far as Dr. Rudin’s expertise in pain relief, we both thought that he failed miserably, and sought help elsewhere.

I am very upset at Dr. N> Rudin's unwarranted diagnoses added to my primary reason for the visit. I was diagnosed with H-EDS but he also added quite a FEW diagnoses that are NOT in his Expertise nor able to be established for a 1 time visit. I requested removal and wrote to DSPS to no avail.. Word to those that visit him - BE VERY CAREFUL & do NOT SHARE any information other than your MAIN REASON for your Visit - it may haunt you!!!! Feel free to contact me via email for more information. debulae@gmail.com IMO this Dr. is not fit to be doing what he is doing and is ruining patients futures with unwarranted diagnoses. I lost an opportunity for a wonderful life insurance policy due to this! May be time for him to retire!

At first we experimented with treatment, and I was responding well, but then things stagnated and my treatments seemed to be the same as everyone else's who was his patient. My concerns were dismissed and belittled. I felt constantly ignored, but UW assigned me Rudin when I entered the pain clinic, and there was no transferring. At one point one of his assistants told me there was nothing left for him to do and we had reached the end of our work on our care together, only to then find out she was NOT authorized to say that and I was still very much his patient. The last few years were in his care an emotional yoyo that only ended and improved with moving away.

I was referred to Dr Rudin because I was diagnosed with a extremely rare condition that has a complex pain as a major part of this disease. He was absolutely amazing to me, he came in having done his research on my rare disease and started to formulate a plan for pain management. He has always listened to me and made me feel comfortable with our plan. He has reached out to my specialist in NY and we still continue to work together on a very frequent basis.

Saw Dr.Rudin this week week for ongoing pain issues and hypermobility evaluation. He was amazing. I've had issues where I randomly drop things and no other doctor a clue why this happens. Dr. Rudin knew instantly. Also the medication he started my on already has me feeling better than I have in months, maybe years.

Early on I liked Dr. Rudin's care but it has deteriorated in recent years. He seems to be learning more about conditions but doesn't seem to be doing much for pain management at all. And I'm not talking about opiates or anything controversial. He just seems to be prescribing the same things to everyone I talk to and won't consider individual differences and when things don't work we're left without help or other options. He doesn't seem open to much else and care feels stuck.
