Never ever go
At first I really liked him, however, after six months he was still unable to find my problem. Granted it’s rare but not unheard of. Another physician suggested a second opinion. I went to a nurse practitioner and within two weeks I had a diagnosis of EPI and have started life saving enzymes. By the way, EPI is caused by chronic pancreatitis which wasn’t caught through Endoscopy and several high lipase tests. Neither him nor his staff were concerned with stomach pain and constant diarrhea (up to 15 times a day).

Could not schedule a visit after recomendation from pcp. Phone message, Please leave your pcps name reason your calling, patients name, reason for visit, contact information. Phone message cont, due to the high volume of calls all messages will be returned within 7-10 days. I called at least twice left messages. Decided to find a different provider from our available data base of Gastroenterologist. Thanks, but your system is very difficult to navigate and a return call within 7-10 days is unacceptable.

I was in the hospital to have surgeryby another physician. After he determined that his procedure was not what I needed, he called in Dr. Schmulewits. He was very polite and explained everything to me so that I could understand it.He is an amazing physician. I am currently in the hospital with a different issue and he will be taking care of that as well.

Doctor Schmulewitz saved my life with an ERCP. He was very attentive in the hospital and for subsequent visits. I even used him for my colonoscopy, which I was reluctant to have done even though I was 10 years behind schedule. He is VERY knowledgeable. If you want a GI specialist, this is your doctor. Some of the comments on here appear to be from folks looking at their GI doctor as a PCP. For me, I want an expert in his field.

Humiliating is how I describe my visit with this Doctor. Before covid 19, he diagnosed me with Achalasia due to my symptoms of choking , vomiting and chest pain. When I presented to schedule my procedure (that he previously recomended... after Ohio had released covid19 restrictions) he discredited all my symptoms, refered to my concerns of choking during the night as "Willie nillie. " I am elderly and live alone ....they are essential to me. He was rude, arrogant, condescending and very sarcastic , inconsiderate , bordering on discriminatory. Be it for WHATEVER the reason, I've never had a Dr make me feel so obsolete and ashamed for asking for help . Regardless of the number of covid 19 test kits available ,, Never again will I "go blue in the face" begging for medical advice.

I had a painful condition for the past ten years - choking on food after I swallowed. Dr. S. did a fast, efficient procedure (half hour) and immediately it was cured. He was kind, considerate, quietly intelligent and he really helped me. He also did something very similar for my husband. We think he is wonderful! He and his staff took very considerate care of my husband. P.A. Mason, OH 2/2019

I have spent 2 1/2 years dealing with horrendous constipation and obstructed bowel after a life saving surgery-nothing and I mean nothing has helped until I was just referred to Dr. Schmulewitz...his office staff were kind, got me into a room quickly and made special accommodations because I was on a stretcher. MA did my history, NP did in detail processing and the doctor came in He was polite, and thorough and did not jump right into surgery but put me on a medicine - big help! August 2018

I am giving Dr. Schmulewitz zero stars (although this review required I pick at least one star) based on an experience I had with him during an after hours call. He was extremely rude, condescending, and inconsiderate. No one deserves to be talked to, or treated this way. He needs to consider how poorly this makes him look as a person and doctor. Not attractive at all. Please reconsider your options before seeing this doctor.

I just started seeing Dr Schmulewitz. I came from Ohio GI which was great but my insurance no longer covered me there. My first visit with Dr S was great. UC WC got me in a room quickly and the NP he teams with saw me within minutes. Shortly after she left, Dr S came in, sat down next to me and actually LISTENED to me! Just had my scope done today and was the best scope experience I've had. Him and his staff are incredible & will take exceptional care of YOU! Highly recommend him!

Very poor experience. Arrogant, inconsiderate, and negligent. Please safe yourself the headache, and go elsewhere. I do not recommend him to anyone and wish I had gone elsewhere from the start. He did not listen to my concerns and refused to follow up with me.
