Wouldn’t recommend
Has an awful experience with this doctor. Very unprofessional and rude. We brought our kids in for a checkup because our insurance recommend that, so they could have their records since we had just transferred them over him. He decided to give me kids their shots 7 months prior to their birthday and when I asked why? He replied “ you’re not paying for this so why should you care”. And when I said I don’t have my yellow card to document what shots they took he said “ no one uses those anymore” (I did go back the next day to get them stamped). And when he looked at my daughters weight on her chart he told her “ you are lucky that your tall and it doesn’t show” and continued to tell me to make her run and if she falls tell her I don’t care get up and run again!! Mind you she’s not overweight. I was so mad and happy that my daughter wasn’t paying attention to what he was saying. And he also said about my son “ him feed him, but her no”.This happened months ago and I can’t forget his words.

The BEST
It is strange how some people have issues with Dr Furutan. He is the most compassionate funny doctor I have had for my kids ever. He is however direct with the truth and what my children need and maybe some people don't like that!

Brought my son to see Dr. N. Furutan so we could continue allergy shot program started at a different hospital. The doctor's office is less than a mile away so we thought this would be better than driving 15 miles on the 91 freeway congestion. In preliminary examination, he proceeds to say to son, "unfortunately you will never grow anymore, you've reached the limit". My son and I bumming out at this point, and wondering what this has to do with my son's shot treatment. Sensing something awkward, the doctor starts to back-peddle on his statement, such that at the end of ensuing condescending/I-know-it-all monologue, my son will likely still grow taller so not to worry.... In closing, if you're looking for a doctor who can cure your child's runny nose but leave them emotionally scarred, look no further.

Where do I begin? He has been my child's doctor for the last two years. When you have it, you have it! Some people just understand kids and Dr. Furutan gets it! He has always shown compassion and understanding to me and my children. 10/10

We went to Dr. Furutan for years. He use to be wonderful with my kids. However in recent visits his bedside manner with both of my children on separate visits hasn’t been pleasant. He wasn’t very understanding of my child’s differences. He told me that I needed to pay less attention to my special needs child and more on my other child because he felt she was overweight. He told her she was Fat. Yes, his words to her. He told her to let Girl Scouts go, and join soccer. We won’t be back.

I am in the medical field (nurse) . Dr Furutan practices pediatrics as it should be and not just give you antibiotics every time your child is sick. I trust his judgment over any urgent care, anytime. Most doctors in urgent cares are not even comfortable with kids and they always over diagnose and over medicate. Just my trained opinion!

First of all, office staff and Dr. Deterville of same office are WONDERFUL. Dr Furatan, not so much! It is not pleasant to be washed over in a conversation and talked to in a condescending manner. He does NOT listen but rather quickly diagnoses by looking at surface things and sends you on your way. After bringing our son in with a fever for two days, he dismissed us without much time. Two days later we were in urgent care with a sinus infection and double ear infection. NO bueno!
