Arrogant and condescending
Took my husband in for followup (his previous dr in same practice retired) and after waiting an hour for him to come in room, he chose to look over the patient and only speak to me (the caregiver). His tone was arrogant and angry and he lectured and talked over me and completely ignored the patient. Just because a person is in a wheelchair doesn’t mean they cannot speak for themselves!

I have only one thing to say. Dr Neal J. Prendergast saved my life. If it hadn't been him doing the surgery, there's a good chance that I would not be here today. So, therefore I say,... Thank you very much. 6 years and going strong. Dr. Prendergast is my real life hero.

I have been struggling for a year and hoped that First Urology would be able to help. I was greatly disappointed. Dr. Prendergast barged into the exam room and continuously interrupted me while I was explaining what was wrong. He was incredibly condescending, belittling, and rude. He was dismissive of my issue and questions and only spent 3 minutes in the exam room with me. As someone who works in healthcare, I have never experienced a physician so dismissive. Whatever you do, please do not see this doctor.

After messing up three of my surgeries (which I discovered after going to my father’s urologist, a trusted and fantastic doctor, when she informed me that I had undergone three surgeries that did more harm than good for my condition), Dr. P showed up to my follow up appointment completely unprepared. He had looked at zero of my papers and relied on me to let him know the results of a test he had run. He ignored my reports to him that I was following a correct diet and was eating well (I’m a 22yr old female) and instead told me that I had “failed” because I came just short of drinking 2L of water a day. When I asked him about concerning labs I got back, he interrupted me and said that the lab company didn’t know what they were talking about and instead told me to just drink water and I would be better. When I told him that it isn’t normal for a 22 year old on a low oxalate, low sodium diet to get 17 10mm kidney stones, he said I probably just wasn’t taking good care of myself.

First Urology will gladly charge you for a consultation but will not call you to schedule a procedure. Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy paying for services never received.

People either love him or hate him. I tried hard to stick with him but finally moved to another physician. His "bedside" manner is not the best, but what finally made a difference is that I lost confidence in his opinion -- he arrived at appointments unprepared, jumped from one conclusion to another in consecutive appointments, and was demeaning when asked any questions about why. I could not be happier with my new urologist.

I am an old-school nurse of more than 44 years of experience. My husband and I found that Dr. Prendergast's no-nonsense, bottom line manner of presenting test results and options enabled us to consider all potential choices. If you want skilled hands, factual explanations and clear choices from a urologist, Neal Prendergast will suit you very well!

Treated my mom with complete and utter disrespect. He acted like he was offended that she asked a question and then proceeded to tell her to "google it". Terrible doctor. Stay far far away.

I'd recommend Dr Prendergast without hesitation to my family and friends. (I'm a registered nurse, with over 20 years of experience) He is thorough, takes time to listen to symptoms and explain tests, and is very knowledgeable. He may not give loads of warm fuzzies, but I appreciate his matter of fact style.

This Dr. ignored my questions and when I asked why, he said he preferred to "stay in the realm of 99.9999% reality and not go to la-la land." He really emphasized those 9s. It was surreal! I am an intelligent person asking reasonable questions. He was condescending, rude and impatient.

He is impatient, unfriendly and I do not believe he is competent. This is of course my opinion which is based on the care and interaction my late husband received from him. Just ask yourself... do I really want to take the chance.

Been going to urologists for 40 years and this is the WORST ever. Came into the exam room in a rage and it only got worse. Insulting, rude, and most incompetent physician I have ever encountered. Stay away from him!
