FANTASTIC Doctor
Anesthesiologists usually hate to see me coming because I’ve got all kinds of weirdo allergies; in the past, I’ve often been gaslighted about it or not taken seriously until I have severe adverse effects like bronchospasms or need epi pens. I’m now way too medically literate so no one accidentally unalives me, but sometimes doctors don’t like this and feel like I’m challenging them or something. Dr. Reich recently did my anesthesia last week for a surgery that was several hours long; he was an absolute dream to work with. Rather than feeling defensive by me telling him how other doctors navigate the situation, he was happy to have the information & encouraged me in advocating for myself, even though it may have meant more work for him. My anesthesia went great, with no complications, and he came to check on me after my surgery was over, which few anesthesiologists have ever bothered to do. He had a great and pleasant bedside manner & has been one of the best anesthesiologists I’ve had.
