I went to see Dr. Kasuganti in early October because of severe, persistent and unexplained fatigue. Dr. Kasuganti laughed when I told her I was worried about over-exerting myself. She told me that the people online who cautioned me against over-exertion were mentally ill. She said, as verbatim as I can remember, "If you feel like you can't run 5 miles then just do 4." (I was having trouble walking at the time) and "By the end of the year you will be completely over this, I promise you." It is now almost the end of the year and my condition has not improved. I can't work. I am able to socialize only a couple of times a week, and have to sit the whole time. I had to stop exercising and I can't walk for more than 30 minutes a day without "crashing." I am now seeing a specialist (one of only 2 in the city) who has diagnosed me with CFS/ME. Thankfully there are some doctors who actually take their patients seriously instead of laughing at them and telling them their symptoms are nothing.
