My husband had three procedures under Dr Boulis including an out of pocket trial. All failed miserably. My husband was weakened after each which lead to his early death. Boulis is much more concerned with his image as their darling Emory neurosurgeon than for his actual patients. My husband’s pain worsened after each neurostimulator implant. He was pitiful yet he still trusted Boulis to the very end.

Dr. Boulis Probably Saved My Life
I’m from a city that doesn’t have a specialist that performs the type of surgery that I needed. When I was finally referred to Dr. Boulis, I was in pretty bad shape both physically and mentally. He had so much compassion for my condition that he arranged my surgery for the following day, even though he already had a full schedule. The after-care has been excellent as well. Whenever I had any questions or concerns, he and his staff continued to treat me with the highest level of care and patience. Most physicians today have lost the caring qualities that Dr. Boulis has for his patients.

Best Neurosurgeon you could ever want or need
I had to have a revision surgery where my entire paddle dropped 2 inches. Neurosurgeons in my area weren't even sure they could fix it. They literally gave me 50% chance of waking up with a Stimulator because they wanted to remove it and try to place another one. Dr. Boulis not only put my paddle back up in the correct height in my spinal canal, he took extra time to go through scar tissue so he could place it so it would treat more of my right side of my body. Now thanks to him my Stimulator works better than when I first had it put in.

Highly recommend this doctor for DBS surgery
This doctor is amazing!!! AMAZING!!! I am a 54 year old PD patient who was diagnosed in 2021. In the short three years since my diagnosis, the PD seemed to progress rapidly. The levidopa did not work for me and caused greater distress than benefit. After exhausting all other options, I was presented as a DBS candidate and it has been fantastic ever since my surgery. I believe this was due to the experience and skill of Dr. Boulis. My DBS was conduced through MRI guided, which was awesome and recommended by Dr. Boulis. I was up and around within a day of each surgery and I know this was due to the skill of Dr. Boulis.

Dr Boulis performed DBS surgery for me 18 years ago. I was on display during my 'Free Float' surgery at Cleveland Clinic. I just wanted Dr. to know that the DBS works great after all those years! I have had 3 battery changes, otherwise the DBS continues to work GREAT! Thanks Dr, Boulis! I am now 84. David Rowles

Extremely competent AND personable
I have a rare and extremely painful neurological condition that was controlled with medication for many years. However, recently, I had a pain exacerbation that was horrific. I consulted with Dr. Boulis about possible surgery options and he helped my fear and worry go from a 10 to a 1. It can be difficult to find a surgeon who is extremely knowledgeable, highly skilled technically AND also very human and approachable. I believe Dr. Boulis is all three. I feel very lucky to have found him.

I am a post hip replacement patient from the Columbus, GA area recently diagnosed with foot drop as a result of the surgery in Oct 2022. Dr. Boulis was highly recommended by my PT in the Atlanta area. My first visit with Dr. Boulis was by far the most informative and rewarding post op visit I've had since my surgery. Dr. Boulis is extremely personable and down to earth. He was very attentive and thoroughly explained all options available. I highly recommend Dr. Boulis for your neurological issues.

The visit with Dr. Boulis was excellent. He explained in detail my options, surgical and non-surgical in a way that was understandable. He provided us with ways to get in touch with him any time I needed his help. Dr. Boulis is an amazing physician. We certainly recommend him for any neurosurgical problems.

Stopped the Pain!!
Dr. Boulis perfomed a very complicated procedure to resolve my extremely painful trigeminal neuralgia pain behind my right eye. He had to do to three surgeries to resolve the pain, but the final one was miraculous and I am now pain free and doing the same things I could before. Thank you so much Dr. Boulis. He is a tremendous surgeon who can see the problem and make the decision to proceed with the appropriate procedure. He gave me my life back!

Omg, very impressed with this intelligent doctor. He is on top of his game. He knew all about me before he ever entered the room. Had studied all my records. Came in, got right to the point with my diagnosis and treatments that are offered. Was very honest about the risk. I appreciated the honesty. No sugar coating things. Answered all my questions. Talks a little fast, but didn’t waste either of our time.

I went to him with a problem that I had been had seven other doctors look at and none of them even came close. As I recall it was from '09-'13 and I was in a LOT OF PAIN and he saw what the problem was within minutes and called in another DR. to concur. She did and I got prepped for surgery and a years old problem was totally under control.

Saw dr Boulis in 2015 after a medical mishap from a procedure at UVA. We exhausted our searches at MUSC and Greenville, SC to fix the problem. He was patient, kind and made me laugh even though I was ready to amputate my leg. I had been a runner my entire life. Running days might be behind me but I’m able to take care and be involved with my family. Thank you Dr Boulis.

After reading good reviews, my wife made an appt which took months to see him. He advised that a spinal cord simulator would be the best solution and he specifically stated that she should not get her first rib removed which had a fracture. So we did what he advised and since he would not be able to implant the spinal cord Stimulator we went to a non Emory dr that he referred. My wife still had tremendous pain and we found a non Emory dr to remove her first rib. She feels better. Dont trust him.

I Presented with a debilitating neurological disorder that lead to nine months of misdiagnoses before I met Dr. Boulis, who brilliantly discerned my rare condition. Post surgery, I went from a bed-bound invalid with 24/7 burning pain from Trigeminal Neuralgia who lost 23 lbs & lived on opioids with NO quality of life to PAIN-FREE & active both socially & physically again. He literally gave me my life back! I will be eternally grateful!
