Failed nerve block
Dr. Simmons performed a pre-operative adductor canal block on me prior to a total knee arthroplasty. He made no attempt to verify the block was successful (it wasn't). When I awoke in the PACU I was in excruciating pain, requiring a large amount of narcotic to allay the pain. What is the purpose of doing the injection if there is no attempt to verify the block is successful. No doubt i will receive a bill for said failed block. If the first attempt was unsuccessful why didn't he confirm it and repeat the block, there was adequate time to do so.
