Our father recently passed from COVID19 and Dr. Raio was his attending physician at Winthrop. I’m out times of darkness, he was gentle, kind, and compassionate. He took the time and care to explain to the family the state of our father’s health. Due to virus, our dad was alone and we couldn’t visit him. We wanted to say our goodbyes and asked Dr. Raio to hold his phone by our father’s ears so we could say goodbye. Thank you Dr. Raio for your patience, kindness, and bedside manners. Although you were not working at the time that our father passed away, thank you for taking the time to inform us of our father’s passing. We are forever thankful to you because we know that our dad was properly cared for and he left us with his dignity. We pray for your continued blessings as you do this very important work that you were called to do.

Nicolas Raio is a brilliant and compassionate cardiologist. As a retired surgeon and Vietnam Veteran (Mash Unit Surgeon with the 25th Inf. Div. 1968) there's little I have not seen especially after 40 years of practice and was a Clinical Associate Professor at NYU. I have entrusted my life to his judgment. What higher praise can there be. I live in Smithtown and pass many cardiologists and hospital to get to see him. I recommend him highly.
