Excellent retina specialist. I have absolute trust in his treatment for my detached retina and AMD.

Retinal detachment
I presented with a macula involved retinal detachment at an outside hospital. I had a poor experience with ophthalmology at this other institution, thus I decided to seek care elsewhere. I was driven to Emory, and was brought in for emergency surgery. Since the surgery was emergent, I did not meet Dr. Jain for long prior to the surgery; however, he did explain to me his assessment of the issue and the most appropriate procedure for me. Dr. Jain was able to restore the vision that I lost from the initial detachment. My experience subsequent to surgery with him has been excellent. His office is slow, and wait times can be long, but he is completely worth the wait. He is fastidious in his exams and assessments. He is meticulous and detailed. My last visit occurred on a day when I had no appointment; and he was able to see me that same day. He spent 45 minutes with me for assessment and detailed teaching. Dr. Jain is remarkable and one would be considered lucky to have him as a surgeon.

Dr. Jain followed up with me after my post and rating above. I understand that he is extremely busy and one of only a few specialists in this area. He told me much work was done for my father outside of the office visits, and noted how little is known about his condition. OK, so I still have my reservations, but gave him another star for calling.

De Jain is now working at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta (Emory Health Systems). I worked in a healthcare facility. I had flashes and went to visit Emory Eye Center. The regular physician was not available and he was asked to be a substitute. His education suggests he should be competent. However, there were many problems. First of all, his bedside manner was "cool", meaning he does not talk much. His technique was rough. I can felt he seems to have problem to SEE the lesion. After repeated attempts to find the lesion, I must ask him to stop temporarily so I can take a breath but he was not happy. After the procedure, my colleagues asked me what happened to my eye. My eye was anesthetized so I can only feel it was very "tired". Checking through the mirror, the eyeball had severe hemorrhage and somewhat swollen. The hemorrhage did not go away for two weeks. I was so afraid to go back. The flashes are still there and I simply cannot recommend him to anyone.
