Dr.Merin appears to be very knowledgeable in stem cell transplant. I have had a total of 4 visits with him & he is very matter of fact with his consults. So far I leave feeling very discouraged, helpless & hopeless. I think part of feeling this way is because Dr.Merin does not seem to be very sensitive to the emotional & mental aspect of his cancer patients. We are prejudge on our outter appearance rather than who we are physically, mentally & emotionally as a patient. I get a disconnect with him as my Oncologist. Sometimes I think he is not listening to what I am saying. Inspite of it all, I do know he is an intelligent doctor that knows his work. I just wish he were more compassionate, especially when dealing with cancer patients. Every person is an individual. You can not clump a group of people together in one pile and prejudge them all the same. Very hurtful in medicine.
