In my opinion, Dr Belcea is an excellent doctor. He has been an excellent coordinator between MD Anderson in Houston and being able to live here. I've never been at an appointment that was less than an hour. During the first few appointments he was doing a lot of blood tests and reviewing my 5 years of cancer records. He came up with a plan that has worked well with my treatment at MDA. I'm now in remission which I credit to MDA and Dr Belcea. Now he is in the process of getting me healthy after many cycles of chemotherapy.

COVID and Concierge Model has Changed the Practice
Dr Belcea used to be an excellent listener and clinician. He now has his pet interests - one of which is the politics of COVID and denying CDC guidelines. Multiple times with my family and myself in the last 18 months, he's made empirical diagnoses that contradict testing and patient and disease history. He appears to have taken his concierge membership payments and decided he can now do as little real "doctor work" as he pleases. He has had extensive trouble keeping staff. His daughter was working in the office during one of my physicals and when he asked her to go outside to get something, she set her laptop down (which she was supposedly using to document) and it was plain she was online shopping for clothes. It is discouraging, because this used to be a great practice built around a physician who listened and utilized the best modern science. The listening is now telling and the science seems to require prepackaged ideas that are not malleable in the face of new information.

Dr, Belcea is warm, seems caring, and he will listen intently for an hour. He will make you feel that you are cared for. Sadly though, after 4 years of waiting and thinking about it, and after 2 other doctors have urged me to report him to the Board. I will be doing just that. He has overprescribed me 3 medications which all carry a Black Box Warning issued by the FDA. I have been severly damaged by Opioids, Benzos and a Floriquinolone. He even admitted to me that he learned from his mistake after prescribing Avalox for a simple UTI. He stated he will never prescribe a Floriquinolone again. So I was a giunea pig. Please do not trust your health to this man. In the words of another doctor, "He does not know what he is doing." I have also found another current patient that has similar concerns. She will be reporting him as well.

Dr. Belcea is a competent fellow physician who LISTENS to the patient. I am 61 years old (Anesthesiology / Addiction Medicine) and was trained in a manner where the patient tells you what is wrong both verbally and physically. Modern Medicine does NOT follow this criteria but, Dr. Belcea does. It is not what you learn but, what you see also.

I have been a patient of Dr. Belcea for 12 years. One cannot ask for a more compassionate physician, who REALLY listens to patients. The Concierge service brings his practice to a whole new level! As one with significant health issues, I trust Dr. Belcea with all aspects of my health. His nursing staff are wonderful too! In this day, how many doctors or nurses call just to see how you're feeling? Dr. Belcea is humble, knowledgeable, and truly cares for his patients.

I have seen many doctors over the years and Dr. Belcea is simply the best. He is an expert in his field, current in science and technology. He places an emphasis on preventive care. He is thorough and excellent with followup. He is always on time (give and take) - a rare find in a medical office. And best of all, I always have amble time (not that sense of rush) for my appointments - another rare find.

Dr. Belcea is literally the best. It's nice to have a doctor that listens to what you're saying and doesn't just write off what you are feeling/experiencing. The staff was very nice and my appointment was on time.

My experience with Dr. Belcea is one I would not trade for anything. He is always there for me offering different ways to treat my medical concerns. The concierge plan is great since there are no limits on visits and time spent. For several years I have been dealing with anxiety issues requiring many trips to discover the cause and ways to deal with it. The treatment specifically for me. Now doing well. He is always patient, caring, listening and supportive. His staff is caring and supportive.

Dr. Belcea is rare, he takes the time to listen, he takes time to discuss alternatives and options. He is not the 'four minute' Doctor. For a true health partner, choose Dr. Belcea

Dr. Belcea is incredibly well-informed in family medicine, is well-read on new developments in treatments for disease and wellness, displays a true sense of caring during patient visits, and is easy to reach when medical issues arise that require his assistance and opinion. Of all the primary physicians I have visited living in eight cities, he is by far the best. I recommend him with no hesitation for anyone needing a personal care physician.

He's a good guy, with a good heart, but his staff is going to cost him his practice. They're horrible and now if you're not willing to pay an additional $1,800 a year for the concierge membership in addition to your regular co-pays with your insurance, they won't see you anymore! Nice huh?

I agree with the comments on not answering the phone! Over a year ago when he did the 1st concierge program presentation he claimed that if you didn't get it, it wouldn't effect him seeing you. That turned out to be a lie! You saw him less and less, and was even told he was busy and if you wanted to talk to him, you needed to sign up and pay almost $1,700 a year or your time would be limited to 1 no more than 2 minutes! They are now "purging" anyone out the practice that doesn't join their club!

Dr. Belcea was my doctor for 9 years until I moved further into Raleigh. He was always the best, especially spending time listening. He was able to diagnose my problem that other doctors could not for 20 years. I am not satisfied with my current doctor who's office is just a couple of miles away and more convenient so I went back to see Dr. Belcea for at least a second opinion. Once again he listened and was able to tell me the origin of my problem immediately! I'm coming back to stay. Great doc!
