Great surgical experience
If you're looking for a great general surgeon, Dr. Castillo should be on your short list. I wanted a surgeon who was up-to-date on minimally invasive procedures, had a great bedside manner and wasn't a hack (someone who'll cut into you to increase billables.) I presented to him with 1 definite and 2 possible surgical issues, that showed up in CT scans. He performed surgery on one and determined the other two issues were not phantom images read by the radiologist, with no need for surgical intervention. As a result, my recovery was a couple of days vs weeks. If you want an experienced, competent, conservative surgeon, who works with state-of-the-art robotic, Dr. Castillo should be a serious consideration.

Grateful to be in Dr. Castillo’s Hands
While I was in Media and away from my home in MN, I had such abdominal pain that we went to urgent care on a Saturday and was told to go immediately to the ER. My wife is from here so she took me to Riddle. Within a short time I was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and needed surgery. Dr. Castillo came in and introduced himself and described the procedure with possible complications very clearly. I felt comfortable with his demeanor and confidence. He listened to my concerns about driving back to MN and going back to work (I’m a professional musician). After the surgery and in the follow-up a few days later, Dr. Castillo and his office staff were very friendly and helpful in getting me back to normal. I also want to recognize the nurses and others I encountered at Riddle, they are fantastic at what they do - true professionals! I’m retired military and we were having challenges recognizing my tri-care eligibility, but they persevered and all was well by Monday.

Excellent surgeon!
I was admitted to Riddle Hospital in the early evening with appendicitis. Dr. Castillo was the on call doctor and though the ER doctor told me I would probably not have surgery until the morning, Dr. Castillo came to the hospital right away when he saw my CT scan and realized my appendix was perforated. I was in surgery by 11pm. He explained everything thoroughly, is very skilled, and I am confident that I received the best care possible from him. His quick response prevented me having peritonitis. His office staff is very nice, too, as I learned at my follow up visits. I highly recommend Dr. Castillo!

I was in much pain and with the hospitals closing i did not know where to go, my husband said we r going to RIDDLE i am glad i did. The wait was long but i needed to be there. I was admitted to the hospital with appendicitis. I had a great surgeon his name is Orlando Castillo. He was great and he explained the procedure to me and made me feel confortable. His office staff was also very helpful and took time with me. I just want to thank them and I would recommend him to my friends.
